very nice..
but why does the Souls call to arms part keep talking in 2nd person?
"You must"?
hmm.. I remember Ayame as a Samurai, but she uses the katana? (as in the FFXI term katana? I know katana in Japanese is ?? but what NA refer to as Katana is specifically ??? and what we refer to as G. Katana is ???, so is it the literal japanese translation of katana or... the FFXI term (i.e to say, single handed?)
They did that for other job/WS quest sections for the job profiles.Originally Posted by Spira
Anyway, thanks, Elmer. It sucks that both Windurst and Summoner are at the bottom of nation and pre-ToAU job stuff, so I get them last.
With the Kabuto, I've seen more than a few images of traditional samurai with the same "horns." I can't imagine they'd be useful for blocking like the OP said, I personally would want to keep my head AWAY from a sword. So what are they there for?
To make the samurai look like a demon. Same with the shape of the facial mask, it was to make the samurai look fearsome.
Indeed, it was meant to frighten and demoralize opponents
the "wakidate" (horns of on the kabuto) were actually in fact originally implemented on earlier versions of samurai armor to deflect a blades direction if thrown from the front in combat. This large style was soon removed from the kabutos due to extreme weight and lowering agility in battle. (see example below of the size)

As mentioned above though. . In later versions the horns (added alongside with ushirodate which are rear crests and maedate/front) were symbolism for heirs and family, and also designed for making the enemy feel insuperior or fearful due to the style.
anyways its late, going to bed.
Good info in the above post. I read the description of the Kabuto with a bit of a chuckle, but it's nice to see when people dig deeper.
I love the description for Shura Togi.
qq The title post is blank to me...
Same. Maybe elmer is deleting after a while? Tried to go back look at the DRK post but that was blank too.
This concern seems to be popping up every so often, so I guess I should say something.
A lot of posts got eated by the forums moving. I figured I would take the opportunity to "revamp" Pointy History. For example, I originally took the pictures with a digital camera, but now I can scan them. Also, I can go back over them and correct mistakes and such.
I am gathering them on my site, jpbutton.com, along with other stuff I have translated over the years. I am still building the site, and I have finished Beastmen and started on the Jobs. I'm trying to add a new job each day, so they will all be ready soon.
Anyway, feel free to check it out.
Ah that makes sense. I totally forgot about the forum change doing that to your posts. Ill check it out, thanks Elmer.
