The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Who here has it reserved? Who here can't wait for the dump?

Basically talk about the game be it JP or US !

Myself... I played the JP version up to the first dungeon then stopped because I wanted to wait for the US version so I didn't have to guide whore all the way through. I'm kind of wondering if October 1st is the ship date or the date its in stores. Does anyone know?

It's going to be easy, surprise surprise. But I heard the extras do take the game to a hefty 50~ hours?

I don't like the fact that it is completely played using the stylus. The fact that you can not change the controls or be there a different scheme is dumb. You got to give the player a choice.

Beat the JP version when it came out, going to replay it in English. The only problem with the game is that the signposts (in dungeons) pretty much spell out what order to hit switches in and give other hints, making the game too easy.

The sailing gets tedious (like WW), but fortunately warp points can be unlocked as you progress, making it less of an issue. The controls in this game are absolutely brilliant and using items feels very smooth, perhaps even better than button controls. I was afraid the touch controls would be a bit gimmicky or otherwise poorly implemented, but I was definitely won over by how well the game handles; it didn't feel clunky or tacked-on at all.

The main game takes a reasonable amount of time to complete, and there are a number of mini games/sidequests and ship parts to collect. However, the dungeons consist of the usual puzzles, so the main game won't exactly confound veteran Zelda players. But overall, it's an amazing game and definitely one of the best games in the DS library.

I have an idea... how about you don't read the signposts in the dungeons then? Call me crazy =P but it just might work.

Anyways, I'll be grabbing my copy tomorrow... gonna pick one up from work when it arrives from the UPS guy lol. I'll let you all know how it is early :D

you didnt pick up soul nomad yet? didnt get too hot of reviews and the system just looked too poor for me to get into, not enough control.

I ordered it off the NISA site so I could get the goodies, they didnt start shipping till last thurs sadly. Yeah, I thought it looked a bit iffy, but im a NIS whore.

This zelda looks really good though, I think it's the first(?) direct sequel too, so i'm hoping it comes out well. I think the people who are bashing the no choice in control set up just havent tried it yet, ive only heard good from reviews.

Well, it's been a few months since I beat it, but the hints vary a bit in how much they spoil the puzzles. Some were more cryptic and just hinted at the answer, others pretty much spelled everything out for you. Playing the game in Japanese (not fluent but I know a reasonable amount) left me out of the loop on occasion, which is why I'd just read every sign/talk to every NPC as I played.

But yeah, in English it will be much easier to play the game without depending on hints like that.
