Great work Elmer... proud to be a Windurstian! Out of all the 3 starting countries' 'general history' and atmosphere, Windurst is like a paradise overflowing with milk and honey while Bastok is smelly and San D'Oria is full of Dhalmels.

I read somewhere before that they originally came from Quon and had an exodus to Mindartia in search of peace and their "promised land", when the Elvaan took their lands. That would fit into the timelines though:

Approximately 190 C.E. – The Elvaan migrate from the Northern lands to the Quon continent
Approximately 200 – The Elvaan split into tribes ????Galleon, ???????Fauchevelle, ??????Bulletoran, Sand’Oria, Coumlaud, and ?????Chatiffe, spreading across the continent of Quon.
Approximately 200 – TaruTaru begin immigrating to the continent of Mindartia.

I believe the 'east' being referenced in the timeline would be the Far-East and not the Near-East of Aht Urhgan.
Yes, the Far-East is referenced several times in ToAU though. Our Near-Eastern buddies are at war with the folks in the Far-East.

Also, I'm thinking that there weren't any Yagudo in the Far-East originally, but after forming the pact with the Eastern folks some of the Yagudo probably moved over that way, and stayed.
When they say “people who resemble Tengu”, they probably mean these tengu and not Yagudo.
Just reread. It is indeed Yagudo moved over that way and stayed:

Saja, figuring an enemy of Windurst to be a friend, welcome the women cordially, despite their religious differences. In appreciation for having personally delivered the Shogunate’s letter, the envoys were given a unit of 100 robust Yagudo soldiers to escort them safely back to the Eastern lands.

The main celebration took place in Windurst Walls, where magicians competed, showing off their unique magical skills. He went through much trail-and-error, including a 6-legged model, a 1-legged model and even a model that utilized prohibited magic like “Levitate” to float about. There were many strange experimental models, like one with four arms with magical swords, or another with two heads. He tested and experimented different arrangements over and over again.

Actually, I'd like to see the rest of the Aht Urghan Empire as a mercenary, thereby getting a chance to visit their enemies as an envoy or the like at the end. Then have a second expansion actually be set in the Far East itself. There's tons of room left to tell stories in ToAU, even now.

I really enjoy the Tapestry style drawings with this. I would kill for a full wallpaper sized version of that Star Sybil/Fenrir drawing. Any chance of us getting a nice HQ scan of it Elmer?

Sizes are approximate, ended up being off by about 10-50 pixels. No widescreen versions since it made it all stretchy, but you can see how it looks below on a widescreen monitor.

    1600 x 1200

    1280 x 1024

    1024 x 768

    800 x 600

Re: Timelines - The Federation of Windurst

I may get wooshed or something..

But i think it said early in the timeline that 'lungo-nango was born to be a beastmaster'
Yet later in the timeline it says that a mithra taught them about beastmasters..

Maybe it was lost in translation or something?

While both events use the same term, the one where the Mithra come from the South has Beastmaster in quotes, implying reference to the job class whereas with Lungo-Nango it's probably more of a generic term, like he was born to command beasts.

Re: Timelines - The Federation of Windurst

While there was never mention of it in this specific timeline - and as said earlier, the fact that the Tarutaru happened upon Windurst suggests they emigrated from elsewhere - I'm curious about the origins of the city itself and its complex canal system that lies beneath it. The Tarutaru found it in ruins and built their settlement on top of it, but who are its real architects? The Zilart? The same architecture, of course, appears in Beaucedine Glacier's ruins, (a full continent and climate contrast away from sunny Sarutabaruta) and differs vastly from the ruin style so widely attributed to the Zilart race visible in Fei'yin - just a few minutes walking distance. Thoughts anyone? I'm stumped.
