Maybe since they fixed Varchet, they've decided to start selling blank soul plates to NPC vendors with jettons earned in the pit, thereby creating more gil in the economy. Doesn't sound like a lot, but multiply that over all the RMT and the earnings are even higher than they were with Varchet!
