Converting video files to .WMV for the 360

I'm trying to view movies I download on my PC on my XBOX 360 via the network connect option. Atm the 360 is only reading .WMV and .MOV files it seems, so Im curious if there's a way I can go about tricking my 360 into thinking these .avi and .mkv files are .wmv/.mov or if there's a FREE (yes..free) converter out there. Granted I'd probably pay the 30 bucks extra, but atm I'll ask around before I have to. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Anyway I would suggest virtua dub if you want to reencode ur videos to wmv.

Try to find WinAVI - it's very nice and you can find a hack easily ;o

Try this maybe, don't own a 360 so can't tell you how well it works. I used this for when I was messing around with their http://www.redkawa.com Media Center thing for the Wii.

Try TVersity, it can stream most types of movie files to your 360.

Glad this thread got posted. I'm finally able to get the media sharing to work between my PC and 360 and want to convert some video files to watch on my TV.
