Digital Camera help plz (choosing/ not support)

Hola BG! Was wondering if anyone has info on which Digital Camera is good nowadays someone recomended the Canon A360 But consensus says it's kinda bulky and heavy. I'm getting it for my gf for her Bday and was wondering if anyone else here has any thoughts. Was thinking ,hopefully, around the 300 mark. The canon is like $270(?) which is a very decent price, imo. Would prefer nothing over 500 unless it's really really worth it.

Would be used for just memories and random goofing off. Nothing professional. I have no clue in what criteria is used for picking a camera. . . But would like to get her something nice.

    Ty in advance! ^^)/

Read this thread, the guy had the same price range as you (almost), it may save some people saying the same crap they did a few months ago: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20433

Office Depot's having a 20% off Canon sell with a free printer til like the 29th. Some nice cameras there. Try Canon SD750/800/850/1000.. they're really small and under 300 with the 20% off.

I've narrowed it down to the Canon Powershot SD850 IS elph

Anyone know anything about this or have anything against it?

Anyone who takes pictures know if it's a big difference between standard AA batteries and rechargable Li-Ion? My preference would be the standard ones, but iono. . .

If it makes a huge difference I can just get the A630 powershot.

There you will find a review written on pretty much every digital camera made.

There is a big difference in my opinion as far as batteries, you'll be spending more in the long run with regular alkaline batteries with how much you'll be replacing them.

I know on my old kodak before I switched to my D70 I was replacing 4 Double A's pretty much every time I took pictures. Also since none of them can be powered via usb while transfering pictures, you'll need it on as well.

A friend of mine has the powershot and is in love with it, but if you're going to be spending 400 bucks, go with either the Cannon low end SLR or the Nikon D40.

I thought that spending that much on a camera was a waste, and man the only thing I regret is not getting it sooner. The clarity I get out of it, the pictures are just absolutely amazing, if they can make my nonartistic ass have good pictures then then anyone can. I'm seriously contimplating an upgrade to a d80 due to me being well over 130k shutters. I'm afraid the blinking green no work will come to my way and I'll be out of a camera.
