Hospice
Ronald McDonald House
Salvation Army
Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts
Big Brother/Big Sister


Of course, Toys For Tots needs unwrapped presents (run with help from the Marines), and Coats for Kids needs jackets in good condition. In the N. FL area, I know the pickups are at Hitchcock's in Alachua and Keystone Heights.

In the Gainesville FL area, St. Francis House *always* needs a hand, and of course the various no-kill shelters

Bread of the Mighty can always use a few cans of food, esp. at this time of year. Don't give weird stuff.

I barely have enough money to buy the people I know presents. Why the fuck would I give someone that I don't know my limited amount of money.

To be honest I'd rather donate than give some person I barely call my friend, or some relative I know less than my mailman a fucking giftcard to TJ Maxx. I'll just be like "odds are you'll spend it on some stupid shit, so I made a donation in your name, enjoy it."

Seriously, if someone made a donation in my name for their gift, I'd feel honored, as long as they actually did it. Odds are you're still 16-21 though and monetary needs are still high on your list though.

“For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” Think of that quote when you see yourself losing money from donating, and being dissapointed at what you could have bought with that money.

I organized a "holiday fund raiser" w/ some of my co-workers. Donated to "Save the Children," and they sent me this funky lookin' basket handmade by Pakistani artisans

I know I'll sound cynical when I say this, but why would you worry about giving child a toy when some children need food? Oh I'm sorry Timmy, no Power Ranger Super Dooper Action figure for you this year, but at least you're fed unlike thousands of other children all over the world.

And fuck animals, people dying all over the world and you worry about some stray cat that will end up costing you more than few hugry people.
