    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I ranked up to brass ribbon also tonight, unlocked Material Storm and Iron Anvil like Rocl said above. I had 2 tags saved up so I did them both, Material Storm was a copy of Stock and Awe, he asked for 12 ice crystals this time. Iron Anvil was a copy of Crystal Fist, but only two recipes this time (bronze subligar and bronze leggings for smithing)

Still wondering how to see other Ops other people have been seeing, the 5 I've done (S+A,V-X,CF,IA,MS) have been the only 5 ever listed for me. My nation (Sandy) currently sucks on my server (Fairy) if that might make a difference. I want to check out Everbloom Hollow or whatever area it is for Sandy :/

Edit: Both Material Storm and Iron Anvil gave me 140exp/580notes. Also, the brass ribbon key item description says "Awarded for Service on the Campaign Battlefield" just as an FYI.

Same with me. Awarded my Brass ribbon, unlocked Material Storm/Iron Anvil. Did Material Storm, he wanted 12 Earth crystals which I had already as it was. I've done the other three (with one repeat on Vanguard X-I) and now Material Storm I, so yeah. Sandy owns 5 areas on my server though so we're doing pretty well. Maybe we have to have more than the Beastmen though to unlock. That'd make some sense.

Also thanks for the info on waiting. Read it in the other thread and never though about waiting between turn ins. Guess they had to silently nerf that or you could get tons of exp.

To Rocl, or anyone else that ranked up. Is it an automatic process after you speak to the NPC to report your mission that he ranks you up? Or do you speak to someone else? I've been looking all over the place for a rank up evaluation NPC, and I didn't think I saw one. Also do you have access to more items in exchange for allied notes, since you ranked up?

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Rank up is triggered by talking to that NPC that tells you how long you have left to wait to be evaluated. I'm not sure what nation you're from but in San d'Oria it's Alfred (sp?) at the East Gate. He wears the same clothing as the C.A. NPCs. Also, no new items were available in exchange for Allied Notes.

In game day..? No. That wouldn't be correct. My guess is poor choice in wording.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I did Windurst: Vanguard X-I. Head to the Fort Karugo-Narugo zoneline in West Sarutabaruta. Speak to the Gate Sentry. "Reinforcement" pops and you have to guide to the fort/OP in Saruta. Just like the Sandy version of this, the NPC is pretty mindless. It opts to sometimes runs away, and you have to talk to the NPC again to make it follow you.

I did this with another player and I think as a tandem, its possible to cut down on how often the NPC runs off. I followed right behind the NPC and it went a good 30-40 distance before getting emo and walking off. Whereas normally it will only walk like 5 distance before running away.

Easy easy, 100 exp, 500 allied notes.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Any benefits of doing Vanguard X in a higher level area? I was going to try it in Sauromugue or Ft.Karugo now that Windurst owns them, but I don't feel like walking the zone to find out where the start/finish NPC's are.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

with Vanguard X, noticed that the npc runs away when you're more than (roughly) 12' away (distance plugin), and may stay with you as far as 15' away. Also npc runs slower than normal walk speed, maybe 1 dusk piece speed?

I've only done a few Campaign Ops... but I was wondering how the process for evaluation to the next Medal works?

    How many Ops need completion?
Does the same NPC that gives the Ops also give the evaluation?

Browsed some threads and searched the BG Wiki, but didn't see... so apologies if the process has been detailed elsewhere and I missed it.

It's not up anywhere because I don't think it's widely understood, but the basic jist of it is: You get evaluated every 5 days, whether you like it or not. Your timer starts the minute you finish the "initiation quest", down the exact minute. (Or at the very least, the exact hour), I don't think you need a set number of Ops to do it, so much as you just need to participate in any form of Campaign to get promoted, and if you don't- you'll get demoted.

The NPC that gives the evaluation should be in a Noble's Tunic and wearing a Sallet (but he doesn't have a fancy abbreviation next to his name), for San d'Orians it's Alfred by the East Ronfaure zone. The other two cities I think the NPCs are closer to the "main hub" of their city. Near the Bastok fountain, or that crazy Windurst bridge.

I hope that's not the case.

You have time to look up the items if you do it before he asks for what crystal is required.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

the evaluation doesn't HAVE to happen every 5 days, just that theres a 5 day waiting period until you can start it. Max time it can go is 30 days iirc, when the medal wears out. The actual eval only happens if/when you talk to the npc about it, so you could (theoretically) wait a few weeks before doing an eval.

Ah... ok, that's helpful. I'm with Windy, so I'll have to hunt around for the NPC.

Also, I guess it would make sense then that the next evaluation will be offered to you @5days after the completion of your previous one.

It will be interesting to see what level of participation will be required to avoid demotion... i.e., sustain your current level. I assume there is a limit to the number of promotions you can get with this initial release. It sounds like it will be different than Mercenary Rank where you could just cap out and wait until the new Ranks were released before being promoted again.

Bummed I've also lost the option to do the new Campaign Ops (security, offensive, defensive, etc.). I haven't done anything other than Campaign since I could choose all of them (no Ops or quests).

It's Llewellyn, the guy like 3 steps away from the Campaign Ops counter.

Have you checked to see if you can buy new Allied Equipment with your new medal?

I'm just wondering if the category goes by type of medal Ribbon -> Brooch(example only)Ribbons is what is shown upon signing up for the army.

Or if it goes by a sub-category of Ribbons -> Brass Ribon

Cool, I just talked with him and I got ranked up as well. Although the medals say something about service on the Campaign battlefield, could they be referring to Campaign Ops?

And like everyone else, I've lost access to the Aegis Shield/Smokescreen/Brave Dawn ones, but gained access to the new Brass section.

EDIT: Added Iron Anvil page to the wiki.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Not sure of the exact time, but when area control changed, that is when people lost/gained missions. Your nations strategy will have altered, causing some to be unavailable, opening missions pertaining to the new strat. My nations strat became a resource oriented one, and we can now do lvl 2 resource missions (if you did the lvl1).
