Changing control settings on Xbox 360?

I've been playing on a PC with a PS2 controller since NA PC release. Recently, I bought an Xbox 360 and FFXI for it.

Having gotten used to how I mapped buttons on my PC, I was wondering if there was a way to change what each controller button does?

Never played with a PS2 controller but I assume it's similar. They are pretty identical.

1 - Use the 3rd party xbox360 drivers (go google xbcd). This will let you use your triggers as digital buttons.
2 - Start, All programs, Playonline, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XI Config. You can easily map out your buttons. You'll probably need to do the camera mapping with one of your analog sticks manually.

Just so I can make sure we are all on the same page let me make sure I have this right.

1) You used to play on a PC with a controller.
2) You just bought an Xbox and FF
3) You want to play on said xbox but hate the default button layout and want to change it.
4) You don't need any info on changing the layout for the PC.

Don't think you can re-map Xbox keys. Best thing to do is map the keys on your PC to mimic the box, so you become used to the sets instead of constantly fumbling between.

Yeah, I suppose I'm stuck with either learning to be bi-lingual with my hands, or changing my PC control setup.

But yes, Azazael is right, it's me wanting to change my Xbox setup to mimic my PC, not the other way around. =p

My Logitech controller finally crapped out (auto-running at random in random directions during Salvage/Limbus is not good) and I wanted to try to make it work rather than buy a new controller. >_o XBCD doesn't support the wireless controller as of yet, and I'd really like to use the shoulder buttons for my macros as I was before.

Untill MS change something, there won't be support for these due to the fact the Wireless USB is only used as a controller charger and not a driver

Hmm, that's a different receiver than the one I'm using right now. I'll have to poke around and see if it's worth upgrading. Something for me to do at work tomorrow! :3

At least I mapped it so my macros are the top 2 shoulder buttons atm. Just have to remember that auto-run is now the back button...

this does indeed support it, i have it and use the 360 controller on my PC, i use custom made JP drivers, not exactly sure where i got them.. googling inc

Also note the JP drivers are newer than the translated ones by a few months, though i've had 0 problems.

On another note, if you use a Logitech mouse/keyboard , download the newest setpoint from them or be prepared to have a useless mouse/keyboard without some tom foolery with taking out the mouse.keyboard, plugging in 360 crap, turning it on, sync, then replug the mouse/keyboard..

but you trust something from microsoft to work well? 1st party microsuck drivers are just that, suck.. epic fail is get with those :/

script to find out wich key is wich. and to make it use control M instead of E , replace e down/up with m. all the documentation you could possibly need is listed there, this is just the script I found worked every time{made it myself}

Sleep time is in ms btw, so it takes a total of 3~ ms for this to execute, wich is definetly faster than hitting control E/N on the keyboard, lol.
