Shoot First, Ask Questions Later

So i have this problem with the Gun wsnm quest that goes like this:

- I started and completed the quest for empyreal arrow weapon skill.
- I then started immediately on Detonator WS quest, title of which is posted as subject of this thread.
- I get the gun of trials from the appropriate npc, Cid, from Metalworks.
- about 100/300 WS points into the Gun of trials, I mistakenly dropped the gun of trials.
- My quest log shows "Shoot first, ask questions later" as a current quest.
The following problems have occurred:
A. I cannot get a new gun simply by talking to Cid.
B. I cannot erase the quest.
C. I cannot start a new WSNM quest until this one is finished.
D. 3 different GM's today, December 11,2007, told me they knew how i could fix this problem and get a new gun, but refused to tell me how to fix this problem.

Ok, so they were telling me that it is a very simple thing i can do to get a new gun of trials. I've looked everywhere on ffxi related sites, and i have no clue what to do. To anyone who has dealt with this sort of issue before, please help me out ; ;


P.S. - I have already tried the usual tricks: making sure i am on my 75 RNG when talking to cid, zoning after talking to him then talk to him again, so please do not reccommend these options :/

not trolling, but did you talk to him a few times, not just once (even after zoning)?

I would definitely talk to Cid repeatedly as the above poster suggested. NPCs like Cid are involved in many quests and missions, and it's normal to have to cycle through several messages before you trigger the one you want.

If that doesn't work, please post Cid's message(s) here. If all else fails, clearing Cid-related quests and missions could resolve the issue.

Honestly all I can see is either you're lieing in one of the facts you mentionned, or the gm lied to get rid of you.
edit: assuming you did talk more than once to Cid..

Is there any way to stop a WS quest? I opened Emp.Arrow oh-so-long ago and I don't really want to finish it. ...Am I screwed? :/

drop the bow talk to the quest giver it gives you the option of taking another bow or saying fuck it

On a side note, pee before you pop gun NM if you plan on soloing it. It has 2 hours worth of lolwut HP. >_<;

Following solutions can be ruled out:
1. i zoned 4 times, each time i came back in i talked to Cid exactly 100 times, as lv 75 rng, and his response never has changed.
2. Missions and quests are logged as completed:
Cid's Secret
Crystal Line (BM 1-2)
Geological Survey (BM 2-something)
Three paths PM 5-3 (I have bahamut v.2 access, so this one is definitely complete)
3. No other actives quests (besides 'Shoot first ask questions later') that involve Cid as the client.
4. I have no other WSNM quests active currently.

still nothing changing unfortunately, any other recommendations?

try not to zone, but talk to Cid for few times instead. This kind of situation happens alots when you are in CoP mission and also wsnm quest.

No offense or anything, but are you 100% sure you dropped the gun and its not in your Storage or Mog Locker or anything? I know this question sounds insulting but I'm running out of ideas.

I've never heard of a GM doing anything like this before.

They probably slipped his name on the list that the special ops team has scheduled for the next round of eliminations as revenge.

If memory serves, it's the Galka next to Cid that can re-issue the gun. I might be confusing quests though, as I never dropped the trial weapon.
