The article mentions Christopher Lee being part of the cast, that would be extremely cool, even if just for a scene with the White Council (assuming/hoping thats why Cate Blanchet was cast too)

He should have a decent size role as they are apparently going forward with the White Council assault on the Dol Guldur tower which happens while Bilbo and the dwarves are lost in the forest of Mirkwood.
I really hope they don't change from the book too much. Book had so much damn action that you could cut out all the action from the trilogy and glue to together and it might stack up to the hobbit.

Benedict cumberbatch is casted as Smaug
I'm sure he'll do well, I just don't know if I'll ever be able to get this man's voice out of my head:
@3:05 for the really good stuff.
Kate from Lost joins the Hobbit.
Hmmm. I guess she does kind of look like an elf.
As a fan of Lost, this is some interesting news. Haven't seen her in anything since that so this could be a nice break from the "Kate" mold.
Figure this would be a good place for this -- preorder deals for the extended bluray release (finally):

apparently the bluray version is quite literally blue

From left to right, that’s Jed Brophy as Nori, Adam Brown as Ori and Mark Hadlow as Dori.
I ended up getting this. They added maybe 5-6 minutes and

is it gorgeous. I havent gotten to RotK yet, but apparently its the best of the 3 in blu ray.

http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/7/13...and-bifur.htmlHere's our first look at the dwarves Bofur, Bombur and Bifur in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The dwarves are played by Stephen Hunter, James Nesbitt and William Kircher.
While most of the Company of Thorin Oakensheild is related to the royal and noble line of Durin, Bofur, his brother Bombur and their cousin Bifur most definitely are … not. Born and bred in the West, descendants of coal miners and iron workers, they have joined the Quest for the Lonely Mountain partly to seek their fortune and partly because they were told the beer was free.
