Soloing City Mission 5-2 Shadowlord as Nin/Dnc?

Will a Nin/Dnc be able to solo Shadowlord w/o using Ninjutsu but instead using Drain Samba or will hitting for 0 mean Drains also do 0? (referring to the stage it's immune to Physical attacks)

Yes, Drain Samba doesn't add any extra damage done to the mob, it only converts a specific % of damage done into HP recovered. So you wouldn't be doing any damage to Shadow Lord during his Invincible stage if you don't have Ninjutsu.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure during melee immune stage it'll still occasionally raise its left arm and take melee damage for short periods of time.. so it'd just be a matter of saving tp until then to keep up with the -ga and spikes that you'll easily resist @ 75.

He doesn't "time out" of physical immune mode. I thought he did, but when i was soloing the fight for my gf as nin/war we couldn't win until i had her use banish nukes from her level 28ish whm sub. Took forever, but it got me back to the point where i could melee him to death again.

edit: i guess it techinically wasn't soloing ^^

I solo'd as THF/NIN and plowed through the phys immune form with 0-10dmg add effects from my Sirroco Kukri.

I have fought this dude 5 times or more... But why I have I never seen this physical immunity stage?! I hear people talk about it all the time, but every time I have ever done it, I have never had my swings (or arrows) register for 0 at any point of the fight. But, I have also never done it "solo" and have always typically had a party of 4+ people who were 50+ so maybe to get the physical immunity to go away takes very little damage very magic?


I will have to do this again in the coming months for some low level friends, so maybe I will see it then. But I have presently never seen it... weird.

Just did this fight yesterday with a friend, and the physical immunity stage is annoying as hell - normally I'm on rdm, so just swing through with enspells without a care in the world, but was on whm yesterday, and ended up having to banish him to death...

True story: I was low-manning this for a friend as BLU. Only magical damage spell I had equipped was Poison Breath.

Man that was a very long fight.

Physical damage shield doesn't come down very often. At least, I wouldn't plan on it being down.

Since it's you Kittyn, you could always Mijin Gakure him out of Physical Immunity mode

But yeah, Drain Samba will be doing 0 if you're hitting for 0, unfortunately.
