    Dropping frames with new monitor

Today I bought a New monitor. Once I got it all setup, hooked up my PC to it via DVI, my 360 through component. I now run in 1920x1200 resolution. Whenever I play FFXI, I will drop to around 10 FPS every couple seconds. It's really fucking annoying. Any idea what is causing this? FFXI is running in the same resolution it was beforehand, could it have something to do with textures used in my previous resolution? (1280x1024). I tried playing some other games, and WC3 would do the same (although much less drop), but HL2 seemed to run fine... it's all really confusing.

I can no longer 2 box which makes me very sad, the other instance will drop to about 1 FPS at times. I made a last ditch effort and installed the 'new nvidia drivers', and it did not help a thing.

I wanna just blame it on 2000, really, why are you still using it lol. But the bolded part makes me think that either you havent installed the monitor drivers, you dont have the newest drivers for your video card, 2000 doesnt support your video card or monitor fully, or your monitor really cant handle the res youre currently using.

Id suggest updating everything to the newest drivers, and if that doesnt work, try using the 1600res and see if that works. If that does work, and your monitor can actually support higher res' than 1600, id suggest XP.

I think there is a newer build of DirectX as well, so try updating that too.

Yeah, sounds like monitor drivers to me, still seeing it as a default plug and play. Could definately be wrong however. I'd try that before upgrading to XP if you really want to keep 2000. (Id suggest going ahead and upgrading though)
