    Strategy on Animated Staff

To those people who fought Animated Staff before,

I will like to know what kind of strategy you used.
So far, my LS has failed it about 5-6x. Apparently TP spam at start doesn't work too good with physical WSes.

    Observed:
    1. Immune to all forms of stun, including WS, spells...etc, so only way to keep it around is to keep it interested.
    2. I had RDMs CS tier 2 spells on it to no avail. It seems to be a lil' bit interested when the initial wave of IV spells landed, but I can't really tell.
    3. Tier IV normal damage hangs around 300-400 ish.
    4. Anyone can kite the Satellites indefinitely, so they don't enter the equation.

    Questions:
    1. Will magical WS like Spirits Within keep it around longer?
    2. Will physical WS like Steel Cyclone make it warp faster?

It will be helpful if you can post the strategy you used. There are numerous articles on defeating the staff, but little more than "what it bitches about" are recorded.

    Heres what you should do:

    1. Hope you didn't turn in currency for stages 1-4 yet.

    2. Switch to Aegis, Gjallarhorn or ANYTHING but Claustrum.

    3. Don't ever consider upgrading Relic Staff Again.

If he was stupid enough to upgrade staff, he was stupid enough to turn in the currency already.

If you must kill the staff for Claustrum:

    1) A whole lot of damage, doesn't matter what kind, just hard and fast like a supercharged porn star.
    2) ~3 NINs for Mijin Gakure. If you don't know what Mijin Gakure does on Animated weapons, do a little research.

Ya know, Ive heard this from alot of people, but from what Ive seen Mijin Gakure is myth.

Hardcore damage, fast and furious = win.

It's not a myth. We've used it several times to keep animateds around for that last 5-10% and kill it. The warp cast fails, and it waits about 5-10sec before trying again. It's great.

I think it has something to do with how they cast warp; like they have to choose a target to warp on, and if the target's dead then it has no one to warp on so it fails. I'd be willing to bet if the last person to hit it died to DOT or something else, it would cause warp to fail as well (provided no one else hit it after). But that's a very unlikely scenario.

Damage can also interrupt Animated Weapon warps on an infrequent basis, I've seen it about 2-3 times, the warp simply gets interrupted and it tries again, but it's nothing to rely on.

    Re: Strategy on Animated Staff

I was under the impression, that the reason why the mobs actually interupt in their spells is due to someone hitting with a crit hit. i remember reading about why asuran fists is good ws for it, because its 8 chances at hitting 1 crit dmg hit. However 1 war using multi hit weapons should be able to easily keep it around, especially if they are saving their tp for when the animated is about to warp. Ive also noticed that not time nuke start on it works well also, because it seems to be to much dmg all at once. We pull it then melee engage and blms start casting, seems to work out better.

    Re: Strategy on Animated Staff

    Asuran can't crit.

SA could be used easily to force them to interrupt were this true, but noone has posted saying "duh, just have a Thf watch for Warp" or whatnot.

    Re: Strategy on Animated Staff

i would call mijin trick a random luck deal, but high chance you'll win tho

i tried running solo into an animated weapon, does a provoke, then a SP rampage for 1xxx damage, get raped, die, and weapon stood there 5 sec and suddenly became interested in my log, and then warp after 30ish sec

which lead to me thinking that a worthwhile death MIGHT trigger its interest.

what i guess is maybe someone that does worthwhile damage and then die will keep it interested, and hence mijin usually keeps it interested. And not all mijin deals cool damage, which is why not all mijin work i guess

as for WS stun, it works but not always
    100% flat blade is meh.....
    300% is worth a try

but still not a sure stun tho
