If you could somehow guarantee that you could stick together with all of your friends in FFXI through chat, forums, or..for entertainment purposes...another game, would you all pack up and leave FFXI and move on to better things? Or is there actually something IN FFXI itself that you want to stick with?

Posting this separately for poll purposes, obviously, since I noticed a huge chunk of the responses in the other thread dealt primarily with not wanting to leave their friends.

All of my IRL friends play WoW and bug me everyday to switch, but id choose FFXI over WoW just because it's more fun to me. After playing for so long, ive had alot of ingame friends leave over time, so whether or not I have friends in game doesnt really matter, I would still play anyway.

Plus there is no game worth moving to anyway. FFXI will be my last serious MMO as well, spent over 5 years playing this game, enough rl time has been wasted. (unless my legs get cut off, I go blind in one eye, my cock dies, I get burned horribly, and cant speak properly, thus leaving me stuck in the house and trying to find something to do) But joining random games like RO, PSO/U, might pop up now and then just for a new experiance.

I've had friends try to lure me to WoW, and while it would be fun to do stuff with them, I just...I hate the leveling up process. I'm happy now in FFXI, I know my way around, I understand the ins and outs of the game and I'm an expert at my jobs. I no longer have to do that whole "wait, where the fuck is this?" so much. I can get around, do fun endgame things etc. I just don't want to go through the whole growing up process again.

If there was another compelling MMO that I somehow knew I wouldn't get burned out on fairly fast (hi2u LotRO), and all my LS friends went to it, I'd bail on FFXI in a heartbeat. It's outdated, the interface is a dinosaur, the graphics aren't worth writing home about, and it's got the goddamn PS2 boat anchor dragging it down all the time. What it does have going for it is difficulty (mostly due to having to be incredibly patient and/or lucky.) In a sick way FFXI remains compelling for me just because it takes so freakin' long to do anything. That and FFXI really forces teamwork down everybody's throats, from leveling to taking on NMs. I like that in a game. Not many other games have the majority of its gameplay so well balanced.

Nothing is tying me to play FFXI right now, I barely see my friends online as it is, I do like doing salvage though and gearing up my AU time crew, but I don't have a problem in leaving at this point if something more important to me comes up.

Expansion a.k.a Coaster, was a giant sack of suck, I might change my opinion in the next update, but so long as the only thing in the expansion to do is Dynamis fights but without the AF2, I haven't entered the past in the longest time. Hell I was overly excited for new exp zones and trying to explore/document it, it's so damn useless.

i can't think of a wittier way to say what SephirothYuyX said & Croaker agreed with so "what they said." i've had 3 RL friends come & go, and a 4th still plays but in a different shell so i never "see" him, and none of it really made a difference to me. i play for the storylines/quests & i solo as much as i can, the "stick around for my friends" argument never really meant much to me. i picked "Hells naw. FFXI 4 lyf" & "Fuckin skanks." i think my lack of available playtime is why i feel completely opposite of everyone claiming that the game sucks yet they still live on it. i do still love this god damn game.
