That's gay. Cellphone game should be illegal.

Wtf, there is a megaman legend on cellphone? Legends I and II are one of my favorite psx game. Nice music, awesome bosses fight and a good cast of characterOriginally Posted by Spoony Bob
Dude Porom is actually kind of hot, how the hell did that happen.
Theres no reason why a seperate PC application cant be made to play these games on a PC. It wouldnt be very difficult, and hell they could even charge for it.
How would they sell their phones then?Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
I hate when they do shit like this...
Hopefully someone will patch together an emulator so people can play this. That was done with one of the FF7 cellphone games right?
Actually no. Before Crisis: FFVII, the cell phone game, requires first of all online access, and secondly the use of the phone's camera as a device to capture materia. That worked by taking photos of objects in specific color - producing materia in the game. Furthermore, you needed to trade materia with other people to obtain certain things. That is why an emulator was never made. And since people haven't managed to make one for the ridiculously overrated FFVII, there's no way in hell an emulator for this game would ever surface. Sorry to crush your hopes and etc. ^^Originally Posted by Karinastar

Why would SE abandon features that ensure 100% no piracy of their software? I tell you there's gotta be a catch.

Sorry for the necro-bump, this appears to be the only topic on Final Fantasy IV: The After.
Anyway, FFIV is my favorite Final Fantasy hands down. I made sure to get the DS remake the second it came out last year and loved every minute. When I heard about this cell-phone sequel, I blew it off, disappointed, and simply forgot about it.
However, I just noticed this thread today, and since I have a Docomo phone I downloaded it right away. There are two chapters available so far that I got.
Here's some screens of the opening title, prologue, and first cutscene:

There's the game in my application menu.

A new legend in the prologue that describes the world being saved through the prayers of the people, and the unification of the two moons.

Just like the original, the first cutscene opens with a Redwings airship flying over the landscape.

"Captain Biggs! We're nearing Adaman Island!"
Now, as psyched as I am to tear into this game, I know there's a lot of you guys out there who may never see a release of this.
So what can be done? Well, so far I've downloaded the game to my phone and transferred the program onto my micro-SD card. From there, I can use an adapter to move the program onto my laptop. The game seems to simply be a Java-based application, and searching briefly, it seems there are ways to run mobile games on a PC emulator.
I know people mentioned the failure to emulate other popular cell phone games in the past, so maybe I'm missing something. What do you think? Is there any way we could make this work?
i <3 you!
If you can do this, do FF7: before crisis too heh.
It really sucks that SE is screwing us over with these games.
If it's just a Java game, maybe Midpx would work?

http://kwyshell.myweb.hinet.net/pager.h ... /Midp2Exe/ <- site, but it's kinda confusing.
OK, so here's where I am now with this.
When the game is copied to the microSD, it isn't simply moved over, but "binded" to it. This is apparently to render it encrypted and unusable if not in iMode on a cell phone. While the file information says the game is in fact a JAR file, there are no JAR files on my microSD card when read on the PC.
Under the SD_BIND directory, there is a 00000001.SB1 file, that appears when the game is moved to the card.
Tried and failed ideas:
- Using an i-appli emulator - Any I could find were broken links, too old, bare bones, etc.[/*:m:d8473n3t]
- Using a Java emulator - Can't read the file from the SD card in its current form.[/*:m:d8473n3t]
- Doing something with the .SB1 file - Barely any information found through searching[/*:m:d8473n3t]
- Downloading the JAR file with iMode emulator - Need the barcode reader to reach the download page, which emulator doesn't have.[/*:m:d8473n3t]
It's looking somewhat impossible so far... then again there's a lot of computer stuff I don't know. So if you have any ideas, go ahead and post.
EDIT: A couple more pics
