Well I came home this morning to someone looting my account, got kinda lucky by logging into interrupt them from fully stripping my account. Cleared off all mules and most of my main including all my dynamis currency. I haven't downloaded anything I didn't know if there was a round 2 of a ffxiah/somepage.

Won't be responding to this thread for awhile since ill be reformating my laptop, thank god for my ps2 to change the p/w.

But this also kinda confirms the thought I had - people using Firefox are now susceptible to these exploits, unlike the first round where it only affected people running IE.

Someone in my LS was on Atlas the other night and noticed some odd activity on his CPU. I told him to scan & change his PWs immediately but we kinda let it go when he said he was running Firefox. Now I gotta double-check with him to make sure he didn't fall victim to this thing too.. damnit.

Not to interrogate, but curious... Firefox with the latest NoScript and Ad-Block add-ons? And iFrame prohibited? With scripts not allowed to anything other than the site itself?

Firefox alone isn't fort knox, it's those two add-ons that really help to make it so secure. Too many people seem to think just having Firefox itself is the only thing needed.

Attacks are evolving and will continue to do so. Just because Firefox doesn't utilize ActiveX like IE doesn't make it a panacea. To properly prohibit iFrames using NoScript for Firefox, go to Tools, Add-ons, select Options under NoScript, click Plugins tab, check the box corresponding to Forbid <IFRAME> under Additional restrictions for untrusted sites.

It can help, but you are already taking a better step by moving to PS2. Dedicating one computer just for MMORPG (FFXI)/Gaming and another one for everything else (Internet, etc.) is another good option. Unfortunately, neither is a possible option for many people. As a fellow victim 4 months ago when all this began en masse, good luck to you.

I haven't noticed anything peculiar surfing FFXIAH recently, but I surf protected as described above with also NOD32 and CounterSpy.

This doesn't follow normal RMT account stealing MO. They normally change your password so you can't catch them mid transfer. Are you sure no one else had your account info?

So are you still susceptible to these exploits with firefox and noscript, if you don't have the block iframe box checked? My little brothers wow account was hacked recently, and he had the latest version of firefox, no script, ad-aware/spybot s&d, etc, however I looked and the block iframe box was unchecked in his noscript settings, could that have been what got him?

Considering that the identified script that was inserted into somepage, ffxi-atlas, etc, was hidden in a tiny IFRAME, I'd say it might have something to do with it.
