Dealing with strays

I wonder what peoples thoughts about dealing with stray humans is?

We have a large stray human population here in Memphis, I was thinking perhaps we should take a cue from Bob Barker, and spay or neuter them.

And now because of some feral cats in the area, my cat was scratched or attacked by one of them, or by a local neighbor's cat in play, and contracted Feline AIDS. So now I have to take care of him till he gets too sick to move, or till he goes off on his own to die in peace and comfort, and I can now be held legally responsible if someone else's cat contracts it by state law

Man, if only there was someone that was a good shot with a pellet gun who could quickly and safely eliminate the threat of those feral cats. Could've saved your cat some AIDS.

I live out in the sticks. Like 12 miles from a town. We had this huge ass tom cat that was always attacking our cats. This fucker was tough, as my brother shot it with a shotgun wounding it many times and it would keep coming back weeks later with its battle scars. Couldn't catch it because it would run the moment it seen anyone. One day I noticed the cat being odd, it would drink from the other cats water dish then make 1 lap around the house, drink and repeat. Figuring the cat probably being rabid I knew I had to kill this cat. Being as stealthy as I am I removed the screen from the window while the cat was walking behind the house. I left the window open just a crack allowing my .22 barrel to fit through. As the cat was about to take a drink I whistled to make the cat look up. First I was going to drop it like a stone with a shot to the head, but then deciding I didn't want to bury it I put the sights on its tummy and fired.

Anyways, the point is don't place a well aimed shot to kill the cat. Shoot it like in like the stomach so it runs off and dies elsewhere becoming someone else's problem. Problem solved!

And no I don't hate cats. That was the only animal I have ever killed that I didn't have license to do so. Well, except for the occasional cat that sits on the road. But thats another story!

We have a bad stray cat problem where I live. We have a whole family of them that jump into dumpsters for chow(Close the damned doors!), have cat fights at 3 AM, use doors for scratching posts, mew incessantly at all times of the day, and have recently scratched a neighborhood kid. Fortunately, the cat was just aggressive, and didn't have rabies, so the kid just got a band-aid out of it, but it was the last straw of tolerance we've had for them.

You trolling or just retarded? I don't think scratching a kid that probably tried to pet/grab it counts as an attack. Not to mention the guy your replying to is saying to call the ASPCA, not leave them be.

Either way, i'm not gonna support them in it anymore. I really jumped into it because the one cat, the mental-issue cat, has been notoriously bad this month about taking his trash from the dumpster and perching on my doorstep with it like it's his personal pad, mewing at the walls at 3 AM for hours at end, coming back even though I run him off late at night repeatedly, and generally keeping me from good rest and peace of mind to the point I just got tired, frustrated, and wanted to be rid of him.

Them bringing their catch to your doorstep is a sign of respect and that they want to bond with you, the mewing is something you can fix with a spay/neuter.

Upon reading the OP's post I was expecting him to have 10+ cats running around raping children. I am saddened It is only 4, anyways around where I live we used to have a pretty bad stray problem (think at its peak we had 50+ running around fucking each other). Sadly considering your problem is at such a low number I suggest getting one of these, yes they can be pretty expensive but they really work and don't harm said cats in the proccess.

Get dogs to deal with the cats? Then get cougars to deal with the dogs.... then get giant cougar eating snakes to deal with the cougars... and then get giant apes to get rid of the snakes.... hopefully the apes will die out during winter when it gets cold?

Sure the kid was lucky this time that the cat wasn't diseased, but think of all the fucked up possibilities. We can't really say for sure whether it was an attack or defense, all we can do is speculate.
