    eVGA's 9800 GX2

    EVGA E-GEFORCE 9800GX2 600MHZ 1GB 2.0GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDMI HDCP HDTV

Specs say it, anyone actually have one or know somebody that has one? I have an 8800 GT OC but I want to upgrade and sell this one to my friend. I don't really know what to get right now, any suggestions on this one or other cards?

What's wrong with the 8800GT? It's a solid card, you're not going to see a big difference. The 9800GX2 is actually 2 cards, but if you benchmark it vs 2 8800gts there's hardly a difference.. the only nice thing about the 9800 is that it has HDMI ports. But still, I don't think it's worth the upgrade.

it's a shitty card and an entire relapse of the 7950gx2, aka the drivers suck dick. Don't buy.

I've been saying this for about three months, since the card was released as an idea.

Nvidia does NOT know how to do dual-GPU cards. They do NOT know how to write drivers.

    9800GX2 is $600 too much. Go buy a 9600GT, 8800GTS (G92) or GTX. Don't buy a POS gimmick card.

+1 on the buy the single best video card you can afford before worrying about dual card or dual gpu setups.

I know its not the top of the line but at only $100 the 8600 GTS is a really decent buy if you are on a budget.

Decent, yeah. If you have $100, I'd say to stretch it to buy a 9600GT.

The 8600GT is a pretty shitty card for the price. The 8600GTS is a better deal, but it's still lacking for the cost.

I guess I missed the part where you could buy a 9600 for only $100 the cheapest ones I found were $149 and when I was fixing my computer that $50 was a deal breaker.

The 8600 is by no means a huge or powerful card and it was a ripoff when it first came out and was really expensive but I got mine for only $100 which was a good deal for that card.

Edit: I did not mean to start a discussion about the 8600 it was kinda pointless to mention because it is so far below the 9800 and 8800 which the OP is referring to. I use Tomshardware.com quite a bit for processor and video card benchmarks and tests they do a pretty good job of quantifying the % performance increase you get by going from one item to another.

Yeah THG is very well known and respected these days. They used to be idiots though, and sometimes you can still tell

Another site I like is Extremetech.com, although I haven't used it in months.

Cool thanks for posting that web site I am always looking for more places to read reviews about various components. It is nice to see benchmarks and comparisons.
