    Best Neckpiece for PLD

My friends and I were discussing what neckpiece is best for a PLD. Situational or not, we came with 4 choices out of many to include in our discussions: Parade Gorget, Fortitude Torque, I.M. Gorget, and Shield Torque. Please explain why you choose one or more, in diff situations and etc. It would help if one of the better known 75 PLDs on this forum can make a comment here.

Shield Torque, as well as any other Shield Skill+ gear should also be considered when casting Utsusemi.

    My setup:

Parade Gorget- a few ticks in between pulls, idle, or resting.
Shield Torque - full time on /war and places where I'll need shield
Chiv Chain - on WSs, /nin
Harmonia's Torque - macro on JAs

Shield in my ichi macro, harmonia's in every spell / JA, parade everything in between.

It's the same as with bodies, Ares's stays on you 99.9% of the time when you're not doing anything, and valor / gallant +1 goes on for spells / JA, full-timing any gear on PLD is pretty much a waste of potential (and don't give me that hate-cap crap, if you have heavy damage you know what that extra 2-3 enmity here and there will do for you)

Swapping pieces that reload your model is a silly idea for main tanking except the only Oh-shit macro.

    Oh no, not again

Anyways, I would like to point out that Ritter Gorget >>> Harmonia's torque. It has no vit- (lolvit, sure, but it has some impact) and hp+ so those cures for hate have 25 more hp to cure, which is damn nice on a PLD brimming full of MP. Oh yeah and evasion. lol.

Also, though its from ugh einherjar, it's ampoules so it's guaranteed if you do it enough.

One man's silliness is another man's brilliance.

    Maximize > Not maximizing

I have Harmonia's but will replace with Ritter Gorget when I can for Spells/JA

    Just as others said:
    Fort. torque for meriting
    Harmonia's Torque for JAs/Spells
Shield torque for ohshi/utsu: ichi cast.
    Parade Gorget for everything else

I'm curious as to why you would not put Shield Torque in a Ni macro too.

Edit: And like most everybody else has said...

Ritter Gorget : All spells and job abilities
Parade Gorget : Idle (If MP issues or if not engaged with a sword)
Fortitude Torque : Idle (If no MP issues while engaged with sword)
Shield Torque : Shield build, Utsusemi Ichi & Ni and general PLD use when in the absence of shadows.

Pretty much but I've been too lazy to go to nashmau and pick up my r gorget (I dont really play atm >_>) so I just use H torque when I do bother.

I don't bother because I don't really have a problem getting Ni up, and I like that extra tick Parade can give or the extra TP that keeping Fortitude on helps with, instead of swapping it out more often.

But, of course, if casting Ni became a problem I'd macro it in.

    Re: Best Neckpiece for PLD

Pretty much what everyone else said. Ritter is ideal for both HP and Enmity, but if you don't do Einherjar or don't have the ichor yet, you'll need both Harmonia's for hate and Tempered Chain if you need the slot for your cure macro (pretty sure it's the highest HP in the slot after Ritter).

I don't bother with Shield Torque for Ni either, since it casts quickly enough that it doesn't matter. However, it's probably the ideal choice for the slot.

Also, depending on what I'm doing, I'll occasionally idle in Parrying Torque when I'm engaged. Obviously not going to help much with HNM stuff, but if you're /NINing something easier, or find yourself with too much MP (lol), it's not a terrible option.

Tbh with my windower marcos i put on shield gear till the last seconed then i put on all my haste gear just before it goes off. Any slots that do not have haste on them get enmity as Uts: Ni and Uts: Ichi make a bit of hate ^^:'
