adding new hard drive, need Advice?

Just bought a new Sata HDD (500GB), and was wondering how I should set it up with my "old" one.

I currently have a SATA 120 GB installed, same speed as the other one just different sizes.

I'm gonna have the 500 gb set up as the primary, and the 120 gb as the secondary.....

just my only question is, which drive should I install Windows On? I'm was planning on using the 120 gb for windows and the 500gb for games. Downside to doing that?

Same speed, both sata 3.0, so no, no real difference. Put windows on the smaller, and everything else on the larger, that way if the need for an os reinstall comes along, you won't lose shit.

btw with SATA theres no such thing as slave/master if thats what you meant by primary/secondary

and yes use the 120GB drive as your OS drive, with the 500GB drive as your data drive (for mp3s, videos, what have you)

Was about to post a new topic, but thought I might ask in here first.

I've got an old 120GB ATAPI drive that's my only HDD right now and want to get a SATA drive to use as my primary drive. However, I don't particularly want to pay for ghosting the drive contents over and would like to keep the old ATAPI as a slave to hold backup data and the like. Any chance I can do that easily, and will having Windows installed on the ATAPI slave cause conflicts after I install Windows XP on the SATA master? I also presume I'll have to uninstall and reinstall all my programs (unless I ghost)?

PS: During the new windows install, I'm going to remove the ATAPI HDD and just run the single SATA until I get everything set up.

Make sure you just set the boot order of your devices correctly in your BIOS, and there won't be a problem.
