On the Rainslick Precepice of Darkness: Episode 1

For those who like Penny Arcade, the first installment for their very own game is out now.

    http://www.playgreenhouse.com

It's about 6 hours- the episodes are coming 3 months apart or something? I got it and beat it today, about to play through it again when I finish this. How much you like this game is going to be directly proportional to how much you like Penny Arcade. Tycho wrote every scrap of text, Gabe did all the art, Hothead put it together.

It combines elements of point-and-click adventure (it really pays to click on everything, Tycho went to huge lengths adding ridiculous amounts of variety to the descriptions of even mundane shit like mailboxes and cans of soda, and they are often fucking hilarious. There's something like 14 different descriptions of crabs) as well as turn-based rpg style combat with an active battle system (think FF8), and some Mario RPG thrown in for good measure with the timing based attack blocking.

GO GET IT. I COMMAND YOU.

(I debated putting this in RPG discussion but it's not really an RPG per se...plus who the hell reads that forum)

If you can't afford 20 bucks for a video game I question how you can afford an internet connection.

That's what you pay in canada for an internet/telephone deals, but yeah, I don't think it was the point of my first post

On topic, the game sound interesting, and I like penny-arcade usually, but 20$/6h doesnt seem to be the best investment.

Not a huge fan of their comics (most of them don't even make me chuckle) so I'm going to pass on this one.

Seems like same cost/time ratio as lostwinds

So if it's quality, it's worth it.

Currently playing the demo and holy shit is this game slick and polished, I was not expecting that.

Gameplay appears a bit simple, but hey, I'm having fun with it (especially the dialogue), going to purchase it come my next paycheck.

I really really really enjoy the comic strip cut scenes, incredibly well done.
