    Laptop problems

I recently bought a Dell laptop with Windows Vista. I am very happy with my laptop so far. It runs FFXI great 90% of the time. The only problem I have had so far is that sometimes it will randomly cut off and not turn on for a while. I feel like this is due to heat issues. It has an ATI graphics card(at work so not sure the exact model and everything). I tried to look around for a maybe a cooling pad or something i could keep it on but found nothing. Anyone have any advice other then buying another pc? Thanks

Take a can of compressed air to the fan area and clean out the dust in there. Pop off the keyboard and dust off the components too if you're comfortable doing that. Download speedfan to see if it really is your temps causing you trouble or not. If you need a cooling pad, they do exist.

What laptop model you got? There's an application for Dell Laptops which forces the fans to come on.

Depends on your model as well. My Thinkpad T61's specs list it as capable of running in temperatures up to 100C (yes, apparently I could boil water with it). Run Speedfan as was suggested, and see if you're exceeding your temperature max.

Are you sure you just didn't read the tjmax of the processor? <_< 100C is way too hot for any computer component, I think you just saw what the "break" point is.
