Whenever I click a link, like someone sends me through aim or something, it opens up as Internet Explorer instead of Firefox which is my main browser.
How can i fix this?

Tools > Options > Is the above enabled?
Edit: If not, what file types are opening in IE?
Like Youtube links.. it always opens with IE, and it pisses me off lol
Vista or XP?
If Vista, go here:
Control Panel > Programs > Defaults and make sure FF has all things associated with it as the default.

If XP you have to go to like Tools > Folder Options > File Types from any Explorer (Not IE) window or something, cant remember right offhand.
Vista, and i did that, have everything ticked, and all defaulted but still stupid opening with Internet Explorer..
Hmm fucking weird. Post a link that opens in IE for you if you can.

If I open this in Firefox, it opens in firefox, if its from a different location such as, from a Aim profile, it opens in IE
anyone? =[
which aim client? pidgin? real AIM? trillian? something else?
ah, yeah i have this exact same problem
i use AIM 5.9 (never really got into trillian, and the new aim client is absolute shit)
as far as i know (to the OP), you can't force AIM to use firefox for links typed in a msg, it's terrible and i hate it lol
i've googled for weeks trying to find a solution to this, to no avail.
MSN Messenger has a very similiar problem. Although links in it can be opened with the default browser, clicking on the shortcuts such as "Your Space" or "E-Mail" will force it to open in IE.
Yeah, was going to test, and realized I didn't have AIM on my new PC, and never got around to installing it last night, but it sounds like this is just a crappy bug with AOL. I can do some googling today but it sounds like above posters have tried with little luck.
Can try this:
