Obama Clinches Nomination; 1st Black Candidate to Lead Party

saw this on the cover of the morning paper, I don't think it's much of a surprise

"Tonight, we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another — a journey that will bring a new and better day to America,” Mr. Obama told supporters at a rally in St. Paul. “Because of you, tonight I can stand here and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States of America."

In a speech to supporters in New York City, Mrs. Clinton paid tribute to Mr. Obama, but she did not leave the race. In a speech more defiant than conciliatory, she again presented her case that she was the stronger candidate and argued that she had won the popular vote, a notion disputed by the Obama campaign.

Later on Hillary was stated as saying "I was the First Lady, I should've won", to which Barack emphatically responded with "It doesn't matter that you were the first lady! Know your role and shut your mouth! Get Barack some pie. BARACK SAID GET HIM SOME PIE!" Barack Obama later thanked the millions....and millions of fans.

Unfortunately for Clinton, delegates wins the nomination, not the popular vote (though she only can only say she won the popular vote because she counts states where Obama wasn't even on the ballot because he can actually follow the rules). She can't use her political heft to change the rules just because she lost the contest. Same goes for the general election. Electoral votes win, not the popular vote. Welcome to America, are you new here?

I heard on the radio this morning that one of the big reasons she wants to be his VP is because she put herself in significant debt with private campaign fund loans. Since Obama is incredibly stocked in campaign funds, if she were to be his running mate, it would be customary for him to settle her debt.

It's great, watching this meltdown happen as its happening. You have to figure she's wanted to vie for President for a couple decades now, and that a significant number of her decisions fueled that path, up to and including her marriage and agreement to stay with Bill.

She can't accept defeat at this point because for the last three years she's gotten all of this lip service from her staff and supporters that its "her time".

John Edwards seems likely for VP, since he's A) Southern and B) white. Hillary would alienate voters who don't want a crazy bitch to be first in line for the Presidency.
