Question About POL Not Working

I recently got a new computer, this one:

I have a Ge-Force 8800 GTS 640 MB graphics card, and the computer is using Windows Vista.

Anyway last night I reinstalled POL and FFXI on it, and when I tried to start POL, I got the error message:
"PlayOnline Viewer Has Stopped Working".

What the hell does this mean?

You probably need the special Windows Vista version of POL (found on the official website) and/or that special Nvidia driver (there's thread here about the working Nvidia drivers).

Based upon the many complains around it seems to me, that Vista + Intel CPU + Nvidia 8800 equals unplayable FFXI.

Thanks. Any idea where on the Playonline site the POL you're talking about is? I'm not seeing it.
