    1 week impressions of the patch

    Well we've had about a week to play with the newly added content, what are the lasting impressions / opinions on it now?

    I can't think of anything too bad to say about it really. I have not done any of the story content yet, but I heard as usual its rather short. ZNM seems to be a really good system, and making use of an otherwise unused portion of the game (pankration) again. Slightly annoying but hey, its really not that bad.

    Ixion is both good and bad. 21-24 hour is good. Griefing is a little too easy, but it sure is an interestng way to claim a mob. Kind of sucks you have to have specific jobs to claim it tho (RNG or NIN).

    Merit upgrades are always welcome. Inventory (storage) upgrades are amazing. Fellows are fun, I need to bring my 65 out and to 70.

    So what do you all think? Possibly the best update in.. a very, very long time.

    Three or four years ago, I would have found that amazing. However, now? I never go there, other than to visit a guild shop.

    Seems absolutely great. The big surprise to me is the two new interesting HNMs. Sandworm suck-in and Ixion are very cool.

    Both a brand new endgame event and the retooling of an unused one to turn it into a great event are awesome adjustments. The new items are for the most part at least interesting, with some of them being freaking great

    Fellow upgrades/past content lead to cool casual content.

    Campaign additions would be cool if they didn't rebreak the damn thing.

    The job adjustments have all proven useful and fun.

    Relic obtaining seems interesting, hard, and balanced if they lower alexandrite requirements.

    Added storage is nice, as are Nomad Moogles.

    Overall, a great fupdate.

    High number/max points.

    I agree apart from the fact that Campaigning for EXP/AN has become exponentially more simple & very frequent not having to even leave town... although obviously letting beastmen raid Windurst is not really the purpose of the Crystal War.

    This would have been a nice touch to me also...if every single one of my sub's wasn't already out of the dunes. Glad to see they implemented it though...finally...

    Ixion is great, aside from the easy greifing part. I love how he was perfectly designed to address many issues. Crowding? Impossible to do so, as many people who were spectating our fights learned not to pet the pony otherwise they will be on the recieving end of some juicy lightning burgers.
    Cannot be zerged, or the same fate occurs, brings back the /thf for melees.

    Sandworm is excellent, brings back 3 NMs (this is what I don't like, would have preferred originals) and they have new drops + old drops, and are beefed up. KA taking damage only from SC+MB is great.

    ZNM system is the most amazing one so far, very nice drops for the effort involved (aka nothing too spectacular of a drop from nothing too hard or involving of a fight), revives pankration for those who wanted the fights, the end fights once again bring back RNG and SMN as great DDs on them (Khim/Cerb/Hydra).

    T2 merit upgrade is hot, 2mins between feint is great.

    Basically I haven't logged into my alt the whole week, due to having so much to do now.

    I wish they could of incorporated the new notorious monsters in better. Personally, I hate the idea of having to take a bunch of pictures for points. I remember that chart the dude made a long time ago, about a new NM system, and it appealed to me. This is definitely a step in the right direction, but it could get better :D.

    Merits are win. Sandworm idea is spectacular.

    Ixion could be a little easier to claim, and SE could go and get rid of some botting trash on Lakshmi. Other than that this update is probably the best in a long, long, long time.

    Objectively, this is probably the best patch this year is going to offer.

    Only gripes are that Odin didn't have a changed lootpool, nor any more Ein items to buy. The campaign changes arn't too great either but I talked about that in another thread already. Other then that the changes are great all around, and you really can't expect a patch to be completely perfect.

    I forgot to mention another thing... the amount of stuff ninja'd or otherwise just not mentioned in this patch. For example Sandworm and the newer version of Serket, KA, and Guivre. I know of some other things also that need more research before being mentioned.. but SE seems to be doing this a lot lately. The previous patch had the 3 mandy's that can take you to annoying places as another example.

    I completely forgot about Einherjar upgrades... possibly the best change possible. Seriously it needed that uphaul, I am 100% happy with this.
