So I left the game around the time of the 2h-buff, and I'm trying to get back into it at the beginning of July.

Here's my set-up (as far as I can remember) what needs tweaking? (Please keep in mind that I don't have access to the majority of the HNM scene, mostly just Sky and eventually Sea)

Level sam to 37

Try getting a perdu's voulge if you can (easy with merit)

Forager mantle
Buy dusk gloves in 2 week when hide will crash
Aurum sababaton or unicorn feet if you can.
Swift Belt

Fort torque, rajas ring, brutal..etc. Grab an haub+1, or if you can, get an einherjar shell, salvage/nyzul static. There is good body piece there.

Some of these are only small changes:

Turban ~> Askar Zuchetto (If you can find a Nyzul group)
Amemet Mantle ~> Amemet+1/Forager's
Life Belt ~> Swift Belt
AF Feet ~> Haste Feet (Unicorn/Dusk)

I'm not a War though, so I may be off on some things.

Is askar really better when you have haste and haste song? When you have close to 50%, removing 1% haste is a lot

Head (askar vs turban)
STR +4 DEX +4 vs 1 % haste
Feet (aurum vs unicorn)
DEX +3 Accuracy +5 Attack +5 vs 1% haste + 3str
Hands (askar vs nq dusk)
DEX +5 vs 1% haste 5atk


Personally, I think askar head/aurum sabaton/dusk glove is the best combo, but I would be interested which to see if it really perform the best in any situation.

I'd be intrested in knowing the exact difference as well, but for now I'll stick with Turban/Unicorn/Dusk, big fan of haste and don't really have access to Nyzul seeing as how I do Salvage 4x/week.

Agree with the rest tho, GA is definately the way to go, even if you are /Sam or /Nin. If you're in a pick up party I personally find that /Sam can be a little risky tho. If you're holding hate for 3/4 of every fight I don't find Seigan/Third Eye reliable enough, but when with friends or people you know are equal DD wise then yes /Sam is awesome.

Have to agree with suggested gear changes.

I wouldn't bother wasting an extra mil on unicorn feet over dusk feet, not often will you be kept above yellow HP for latent to work.

Feet go dusk or the new ones from ZNM Aurum sababaton? if you can get them.

Hopefully with this lottery it will make Dusk+1 more feasable to get as well, cause with them going for 20-25M+ still a little too much, maybe we can see em drop to 4M? O.o

Im buying 1 or 2 stacks of Hides when prices drop to 100-200k and get my Dusks +1 crafted, then i will hold the remaining nq/hides on a mule for a few months and throw them back to the market when prices have rised again.

I agree with the statement that /sam in pickups is risky at best, and I'm still a fan of /nin most of the time, especially when most of my meripos i'm holding hate for over 50% of every fight, seigan+third eye only goes so far before you start taking a beating.

your rdm's suck if this is the case, i've never really had problems staying in white (and i'm a taru) unless the healer was lazy

to the OP again, key points of interest in the difference between dual axing and GA. If you're dual axing you're going to need those extra bits of acc you have listed in your gear, but with GA and GA merits, many of those become unnecessary. Bomb core > fire bomblet for GA, and swift belt is a must have. Suppa becomes useless with GA as well, get assault earring/spike earring for tp, maybe a triumph earring if you can afford it for ws. Get yourself finished ToAU as well and get an ulthalams ring to replace that woodsman too. And I echo the dusk/unicorn feet >>>>>>af feet, and if those are out of your league price wise, try to get amir boots.

Smilo mantle +1 is going to be inferior to Amemet+1 and Foragers for WS.

In any situation where 2 STR > 15 ATK for WS, the mob is so weak it's not even going to matter.

Byakkos is good

Byakko's, Berserker, Martial Bhuj, and Rampager all good great axes. Rune Chopper is the best GAX (barring relic maybe) if you can get the latent active because you can hit 25% haste so easily with it and gear around it.

Why are the prices of Dusk stuff going to drop soon?

One of the easier prizes to get in the Mog Bonanza is Behemoth Hide, so many are anticipating a flood in the market for them. If so, there will be lots of undercutting and Dusk synths made which will flood the NQ market driving the price low. The price has already been slowly dropping in anticipation.

I'd expect Dusk Trousers+1 and Dusk Ledelsens+1 to drop a decent amount, but I'd imagine Dusk Gloves+1 wouldn't drop very much since they're T0 (low chance of HQ compared to decent rate on Legs & Feet)

Ares's Cuisses may be worth looking into if you do Salvage.

If you have Chiv Chain, Hauby, Byakko's, Rajas Ring (this is a must have if you don't have it you're gimpy using a GAX I'm serious,) swift belt, fowling earring and another acc ring you should have enough acc to make meat worth while. The ratio on 2-handed weapons now is 4 dex = 3 acc so in merits with that set-up you'll probably parse about 85% without any merits (90% easily when agg is up.) Sushi at that point I think would be over kill but don't slack get a few choice acc pieces and merit zerk/agg and GAX, you'll get acc up in the 90-95% range easily.

If you're strictly a melee job player, then uh... yeah. There is no reason not to have one. Don't forget to get yourself a Brutal Earring.
