There has been a lot of talk lately about what video cards are best for FFXI and if processing speed matters more than your GPU speed. I got to thinking earlier, "Wouldn't it be cool if everyone ran the FFXI Benchmark program on playonline.com and compared results?".

Above is a link to the FFXI Benchmark program (Vana'diel Bench 3) released by SE some time ago. Basically, you download it, install it, then run it. There are settings for high and low quality as well. Here are the rules to the testing:
1. You must set the benchmark program to high quality.
2. The benchmark stops and exits right when it finishes, giving you no time to really write down your benchmark total. I want you to take the total from when the screen fades to black at the very end. The final scene it benchmarks is a bunch of Taru doing /confused while airships fly overhead and confetti drops.
3. When you post your benchmark total, post your system specs. CPU, Graphics Card, RAM, OS, and Motherboard/Laptop model if you know it.
For example, I ran 3 tests when I got home today just to see which video card of mine was better. Your results should look something like this:
There's a lot of questions in tech support asking, "What should I put in my new computer?" and arguments about nVidia vs. ATI for FFXI. I'm hoping this will help people when they buy new computers/laptops, and since we all play FFXI, how the computers perform in FFXI kind of matters Q_Q.CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz
Graphics Card: Two ATI Radeon HD 3870
RAM: 4gig DDR2 1066mhz
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
Motherboard: ASUS P5E
Score 1 (1st video card): 8761-H
Score 2 (2nd video card slightly overclocked): 8787-H
Score 3 (Both video cards connected with CrossfireX): 9721-H
For shits and giggles I ran it on low quality with both video cards and scored 11474-L.
If anything, you guys can use this thread to flash around your quad-core 4x Crossfire/SLI video cards etc. e-cocks.
