EDIT 2: It looks like they are still using parts of David Hayter's(Solid Snake) script. The biggest change is that Hayter's script took place in a modern setting, but they scaled it back to original timeline. I think it's a good thing.

EDIT 3: And why that's a good thing is because Alan Moore personally said it was the best possible adaptation and exactly how he would do it(despite him hating the idea of a movie altogether.)

Did they seriously just show Ozymandias in front of a row of TVs as he's about to shout 'I DID IT!' in the trailer?

They've got a ton of story to fit into a feature-length film. I'm worried that it'll either be 3+ hours long or I won't be satisfied with the cuts they'll have to make in some of the more memorable scenes (the jail, rorsharch's backstory, the Comedian's backstory).

They are cutting the whole The Black Freighter comic and saving it for the DVD from what I hear. Zack Snyder really loves being original to the comics(look at 300) and the script is based on Hayter's to which is said to completely loyal to the film. I don't know how they did it but it seems they did.

Quoted for emphasis. Watchmen is a key reason that comic books started to be taken a little more serious as an art form. If I had to point at a single comic book as the pinnacle of the art form, it would be Watchmen. No matter how good the movie is, the comic book will be required reading.

Everyone you see in the trailer with a costume is a superhero. To say who's a good guy and who's not is giving away a lot of the plot.
