Finally saw Manchester by the Sea.

Wasn't expecting tonally weird situation comedy in my dead children movie.

It was ok, can't believe how hyped it was.

In the Bedroom is the far, far superior northeastern fishing boat family tragedy film. (it's one of my favorite all time films, from 2001, check it out).

Was this good? I wasn't completely sold on the previews even thought Channing Tatum can do no wrong

It's basically redneck Ocean's Eleven. I enjoyed the shit out of it, the entire cast kills it assuming you can deal with how ridiculously exaggerated the accents are.

The whole thing is worth it entirely for the Game of Thrones scene. I won't really say more cause it's so out of left field it's amazing.

I enjoyed Hitman's Bodyguard, but y'all nuts. It was a standard buddy action movie.

Last good movie you saw/and would recommend to others ~

IT. More jump scares then original. But still s great story with some tense moments. If you hate clowns, you will not like this movie.

    7.5/10

Nobody made a thread for it so I guess we'll just have to discuss it here. Currently has a 88% critic score on RT and 91% audience score. I was hyped to see it from the very first trailer. I plan on going to see it tomorrow night.

Saw IT. Definitely around an 8/10. Great movie. Strong story, characters, and horror elements.

Late to the party I think but me and the wife saw The Big Sick and it was hilarious. My wife is Pakistani/Indian so I got a lot of the jokes(Like the arranged marriage side story) because I know her history but it would totally be a great movie even without that.

Been hyped for years for proper R film for IT, since its my favorite Stephen King novel, but will obviously have to wait to see the film till after Irma.

Did rewatch the Tim Curry TV film and ATM re-reading the book to get ready.

Also listened to the OST and it is so damn good and creepy.

As others have said, It was very solid. I read the book ages ago so I don't remember all the events, but they nailed the horror element. This version of Pennywise was great. You can't really compare the TV movie as it's almost 30 years old at this point, but if they can do just as good with the adults as they did with the kids, they've got a real winner. The kids were fuckin fantastic. Some of the lines they came out with were absolutely hilarious. Definitely recommend.

Echoing what has already been said, but yea, this version of IT was great. Tons of focus on the kids with all the R rated language fully intact, and this version of Pennywise was great. Much darker than Tim Curry, and a hell of a lot scarier. 8/10

I just simply love the story, this was the last good movie that I have watched awhile ago.

Saw IT, thought it was meh.... I don't know what you guys are raving about. At best it's okay but not great. Don't get me wrong the old TV film isn't amazing either.... except Tim Curry

Are you not a horror fan? Or a fan of movies with adolescent ensembles?

'Cause it was pretty top tier for both. It had excellent, realistic banter/camaraderie, as well as some quality jump scares and horror imagery -- the latter I find rarer and rarer.

Seriously, the social aspect of the kids was so fucking well done. I'd take an entire movie of them just going through the trials and tribulations of being kids, don't even need a monster!

Agreed on this so fucking much.

Just got out of it with the hubby and disclaimer here - I hate fucking clowns and swore I'd never see this and never saw the original.
It was a really well told story and movie and I really enjoyed the above quoted aspect especially and highly recommend seeing.

I loved it. Skarsgard's adaptation of Pennywise was legit. Entirely different and creepy as fuck.

Loved the kids too. Each one had their quirk that made them special.
