I saw the movie Blindness on Thursday. It was amazing.. I loved the music in it, too.

I just saw Blindness tonight, and it was a terrible movie. Unless you like blind, dirty orgies with old people. I saw Eagle Eye last week, and while it wasn't great, it had some cool action sequences.

Saw Tropic Thunder again this weekend and its still hilarious!

Saw Ghost Town over the weekend with the girlfriend; it was quite enjoyable. It is most definitely a romantic comedy film, but as long as you go into it accepting some saccharine moments, Gervais' acerbic misanthropic lead character is utterly detestable and totally hilarious. Tea Leoni gives a great performance too (and it pretty easy on the eyes I must say), along with Greg Kinnear to round out the main cast of a fun movie.

Right now it's sitting at an 86% Fresh rating over at Rotton Tomatos, so it's worth a look, especially as a date movie.

on topic: The Fountain

Kind of wanted to bring this up since it popped into my mind over the weekend, maybe because I was depressed but who knows. I wouldn't really call The Fountain a movie I liked, but it was incredibly touching and sad. I watched it about a year ago with my girlfriend and I think the two of us spend the majority of the movie either crying or wanting to cry. The plot, acting, visual imagery, and especially Clint Mansell's haunting soundtrack combine into an utterly heart-wrenching film experience that is incredibly rare. Even though the story is tragically sad, it is uplifting and endearing in the end.

HOWEVER, The Fountain has incredibly mixed reviews and if you're not willing to fully commit, both mentally and emotionally, to the film then it will come off as being overly-pretentious and poorly executed. If you analyze out the metaphysical issues raised by the script it becomes rather muddy too. But, I very much enjoy Arnofsky's work, for all its often-unrealized ambition and weirdness, and The Fountain is no exception.

Did you find the scene that depicts what's going on in the girl's mind after she fell and hit her head out of place? That was really the only thing I didn't like because they changed up the medium it was done in, I suppose. It didn't feel uniform with the rest of the movie to me.

I just finished watching The Fall. I loved it, the cinematography reminded me a lot of Hero, The Cell, and Baraka. I believe all 10 parts of Baraka are on Youtube, check them out.

The Midnight Meat Train

Porno name aside, this is an awesome horror flick. Didn't have much expectations going in but it has a good story/good acting (everyone involved is legit; not a bunch of models getting hacked up) and good cinematography. The 'look' of the film (like the color tone/etc) is similar to Saw but it feels much more professional.

Good chemistry between the 2 leads as well.

Be Kind Rewind.

Jack Black was getting pretty tired to me (outside the always loved role in High Fidelity) but this was one of the most feel-good films I've ever seen and he did extremely well with Mos Def and an old Danny Glover. Always a huge fan of Michel Gondry's work, such a creative guy.

Mos Def is great. He can actually act. Note to other rappers (P.Diddy, 50 Cent): try harder.

Friend made me watch Murder Party, it was hilarious IMO, would recommend it.
