Is it ok to turn off virtual memory for a gaming/media PC?

same as topic, I have 2gb of the fastest memory out. I read somewhere that it might be wise to turn off virtual memory (page file not set in xp) to increase performance speeds for this gaming/media only machine. Would this help? or shens?

if you had a 64 bit system and like 16GB of ram maybe, but 2GB is not enough and that would hurt you more than help you

Some programs will bitch about there being no virtual memory and refuse to run because the programmers were idiots and hard-coded them to use it.

So it'd depend on what you got installed and use. I'd just stick to keeping it on. Only speed difference you might notice is a lack of tiny little jitters, depending on how good/bad/fragmented your harddrive is.
