One of these days, someone will give my crazy idea a shot, not me... gotta get set for new semester soon, but maybe it will happen.

Just use that energy spend kiting everything and killing lamps one at a time, and kite everything, but kill PW.

See what happens.

This has already been tried, the same exact form of PW will just repop if you kill it before killing the lamps.

Chances are there are ways to wins these fights without spending 18 hours to do so. The fact a Linkshell spent 18 hours is not neccassarily SE's fault, perhaps the strategy was all wrong. Hell, Kirin could take 18 hours if it wanted too, but the reason it doesn't is because we know how to kill it properly, i'm sure people struggled with it's Regen over the years. I remember when Kirins were like 4hours long, throwing BLM and Tanks at it...

Huge difference in spending hours and hours on an NM making no progress/wiping/dealing shitty damage, and spending hours and hours on an NM where you're consistently dealing an average of over 500,000-600,000 damage an hour on a mob that is kited for most of the fight. There are some potential changes that a better handled strat/more people could do after knowing fully what to expect, but not enough to take more than a couple of hours off of the end.

Also, people need to realize that this isn't an 18 hour fight. It took us 18 hours before we gave up, if we were to continue further to go for victory it would've been at least another 2-5 hours, making it a 20-24 hour fight for just our linkshell.

And as I mentioned in the other thread, that's just for our LS. The pace other linkshells have mentioned going at would put the fight over 30-35+ hours.

I really don't understand what the fuck SE is thinking. Or maybe they're just NOT thinking. I don't think anyone is going to think an 18 hour battle is fun.

ATTENTION SE/SUNDI and ANY OTHER SE EMPLOYEE: This is a fucking GAME, assholes. Games are supposed to be FUN. Sitting in a chair for 18 goddamn hours button mashing is NOT FUN. I like a challenge, but jesus penis you people are fucking out of control. The best part? Your idiotic random system that even after a fight that long could result in *drum roll* AN ICE CRYSTAL, or NOTHING. If you're going to make a fight last 5-6 hours (which would and should be the absolute upper limit on a decent LS tackling the biggest and baddest HNMs in the game), then it damn well better drop almost everything in its loot table. Don't fucking jerk us around. This game is old, and you want to piss off the people who allow you to go home with a paycheck, making outrageous fights that might not drop anything is a a good way to do it.

Don't get me wrong, SE has done a great job lately with cleaning up RMT and addressing a myriad of other issues, but for fuck's sake, why do something incredibly retarded like an intentional 18 hour fight? Is it to make up for all the stuff players appreciate? Sort of to balance out the good by adding some bad?

Well we didnt assume that the SAME people would go for 18 hours straight, we assumed people would swap in and out during the battle. I mean.... you have to tend to your rl needs, family work etc... we dont want to see them affected by playing our game.

AV and PW are the end-bosses of their respective expansions and hold some gear that is the best for it's slot/job/whatever and both sit at the top of a structured system of pops. They are basically a big fuck you at the end of weeks or months of progress instead of the reward players should be getting.

Because the gear is only half the goal, the other half is defeating a challenging(not 18-hour) boss.

Who knows, could be Odin himself. I certainly don't know. But without a screenshot showing he is dead, there is only logic but no proof.

Though I also think PW is completely different from AV. You can prep for PW, you have to "reprep" for AV. I don't see any linkshell going against JoL in hope of doing AV. I'm sure all their paladin tanks are either /drk or /war on JoL and nobody is /nin. PW can be beaten and probably has a trick to it to be a lot less painful than lol18 hours. It is just too early to tell, we just need more trial and error.

Yes i did quote from some of sylphs post, however i also talked to sylphet via PM right here in the forums. If there was any law broken it was definitely not intentional.
