Sound crackling - speakers and headphones both.

No matter what I have plugged into my computer (speakers, headphones, or both, in various jacks) there is like...a humming/static sound coming from the computer. It's an onboard soundcard, and uses Realtek hd audio manager to manage its sound. Any ideas what could be causing this? thanks.

Disabled onboard sound: problem goes away. Installed audigy 2zs sound card, that sound card has the problem too. I have a feeling it's not soundcard related

I was having this problem with my mic after getting it. it would have A LOT of static and crackle a lot more than it should have. Turns out the usb plug that it had to attach it via usb pots was fucked up. then i plugged itin directly to the comp and it worked fine.
