The book Fight Club is better than the movie, but Forrest Gump and Blade Runner are better than their respective books.
Lord of the Flies.
Damnit, this was discussed already in another thread. His name is not related to Linkin Park, it's related to the Greek city (if I recall right.)
Movies > Books....btw, as long as there is a version of both. There are some books that I've read that were awesome but I'm not sure if they would translate into a good movie. There are some books that I read, that were awesome and made me think that they would kick ass as a movie if done by the right director.
Willow.
book > movie.
Die Hard
Based on the novel "Nothing Lasts Forever."
Rambo
Book > movie
The Godfather.
I'm going to back this up, I've read both books and watched every episode and I can definitely say the books are not as good. Although the first book is the only one that can be fairly compared though, since the second season of the show and the second book were only loosely related, and followed pretty much completely different plotlines. The books were more humorous I thought but the show (Mostly Michael C. Hall and how he plays Dexter) just had so many things that were done so well that the books couldn't match up really.
Pretty much every Bond movie made.
The Shawshank Redemption.

A clockwork orange is one that is always talked about being better as a movie then the book.
I read the book first then the movie, a year or two ago and I liked the book better because I could imagine a grimmer future then what kubrik could at his time.
and the 21st chapter + authors prelude made it much more enjoyable as a read.
Willy Wonka was a better movie then the book, Gene wilder was absolutely fucking amazing.
You can't really compare the two. Charlie And the Chocolate Factory strikes a completely different tone than Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory does.
Gene Wilder definitely did a great job in that movie, but the novel was decidedly creepy for a reason, and the movie just kind of took that all away.
I always laugh when people watch the more recently filmed version with Johnny Depp and complain about how it's "nothing like the original". They nailed that movie perfectly in my opinion, Depp especially (but when is he ever not good :3).
sometimes a movie can be better than a book if you watch the movie first, but only sometimes
Pretty much every movie based on Stephen King books
Les Miserables is definitely a better movie than a book (the more recent one). The book is just too long
