Apparently, a scientist at the LHC declared that the object is similar to the flash that an Imperial Star Destroyer does when reaching Warp 10.

Hmm, so does this mean we have Star Destroyers? :D

Can't be dust on the lens they definitely have ways to detecting that and preventing it altogether. I don't think they'd invest millions of dollars into a very powerful telescoping lens only to have it's information rendered completely useless simply due to some space dust sticking to the lens. Besides, I'm pretty sure it isn't even conventually what we'd consider a telescope lens, it's more like a detector of light not a glass lens which somebody is looking through.
