Does the familiar count include ones that you've transformed into an advanced stage? Like, if I took a Mite all the way to a Mermite, that would be 3 familiars, not 1?

Yep, as long as you have never recruited any of the higher forms. I am on my last trophy. Need one Angel Wing (or 2 Kaleidostones) to do one more Alchemy recipe...
Finally beat the game. I feel kinda gipped. Why was there no Ghibli animation in the ending? Short as fuck too.
Edit: Are there any other post game only familiars like Mandragorer and Sapdragon?
Also is there a point to golden monsters? Do they add to your tame count if you already have the normal version?
Finally... Platinum over the weekend.
Didn't realize it was my second. Walking Dead platinum feels like cheating. Ni No Kuni actually took effort!
So many games, so little trophies >_>
Grats on the Plat, though.
FFXIII-2 platinum is cheating, lol. By the time you're done the main storyline, you've only got like 6 easy trophies to go. (...it's the only game I've ever platinum'd >_>)
Speaking of main stories, I just beat the main story of this game. I was level 97. I had a dino. I have a tendency to over-level because grinding for EXP was made easy after all my years of playing FFXI. I actually didn't even farm for Todokocolds (sp??), I went into the Ivory Castle at like level 85~ and ran into a bunch of them through random encounters with other mobs being the mob that roamed the floor and quickly leveled up that way. I was around level 75~ish when I got the 4th party member who will remain nameless to avoid spoilers, but I actually ended up leveling to the mid 80's trying to get him a Toko as a familiar.
I know I know... thanks. I just really didn't finish a lot of PS3 games for a while. Most of the games that I really devoted time to were on 360. I also Gamefly a lot and get tired of them quickly. This one though, really deserved to be truly completed.
EDIT: Wow that is pretty cool IC. Ain't it tho!
Bit of a newbie topic compared to all the other discussion going on, but I'm in Hamlin and I've just got to ask...
Is there any way to get the AI partners to use MP wisely? Having Esther set to healing results in spamming heal spells that restore 60+ HP when I've only lost 5.
Just recently picked this game up and was curious if anyone else noticed the voice acting didn't quite match the on screen lip movements. Just want to make sure this is normal and not some problem with my disc or possibly my PS3 as that seems to be making some odd noises lately and i'm thinking i may need a replacement soon.
I noticed it at the start but was able to just ignore it from there lol.
Problem seems to have sorted itself and i haven't really noticed it since. Anyway i just got the ability to tame mobs so was wondering are there any ones i should be especially conscious of getting before i proceed to the volcano?
Go reallllly far south and get the cat with a sword. And keep him pretty much the whole game.
