bounty hunter and trooper healing is something i'd like to know as well. I know smuggler used little med bots for healing, but i doubt bioware would copy that method on to other classes.

For all its faults, FFXIV has beautifully smooth animation and graphics, and going to most other MMOs with lower end graphics just seems painful to me.

Not as painful as sacrificing gameplay for those beautiful graphics. We shouldn't have to choose but it's the reality. I also think you confuse smooth with clunky.

it was about 4 months ago. the game since then, from videos and whatnot looks better for sure graphically(hopefully fixed the exceedingly bad character gen). sadly combat still looks like boring every mmo point and click hotkeys to watch animations that miss targets (wheres my damn us monster hunter frontier already) if its any consolation i will still probably buy it if only for the plot lines which im willing to bet are tons better than actual star wars plot lines. when beta hits should get an invite according to their notes, that is of course unless they are tracking me down right now (doubtful )

the same way melee tanking works, ranged abilities generate threat but you also have melee ones since not every enemy is gonna be doing ranged damage.

first round i'm sure was a nightmare. could be said for any game really when it just enters alpha.

I know, EU testing is starting soon though. Once that starts i imagine they will fire up larger scale testing over here soon after. They aren't gonna use EU testing for major development feedback the way NA is right now, probly just tests for localized region builds at first before going big.

its ok, this isn't TERA.

i can't say for certain how they base invites, can only speculate. I'd imagine having a better comp can only help you get chosen. One of the finance guys for EA was talking in an earnings call a couple months ago and he said at the time the current testing session was more like an EA F&F than a traditional closed beta test. This was back around PAX East, and back then there were some numbers thrown out by the devs who said they had about 1k people testing at the time.

But yeah, no idea what they are doing right now. Only thing i know is they have to start larger beta tests soon if they want to hit their 2011 window. 6 month test phase for a standard MMO has been quoted several times this year by EA/TOR folk.
