Really torn on this game. I'd love a SW universe to explore and play as an MMO, but I cannot get onboard with the "most of the game can be completed solo" style. I don't want a single player RPG with co-op option. I don't want a game that you can achieve max level solo and then all of a sudden end game content requires alliances.

Having "optional" group content just encourages players to skip that content and can make it difficult to feel a part of the community and meet new players when everyone will just take the path of least resistance when given the choice.

This was the biggest problem I had with a game like AoC. The setting, back stories, themes, etc., were top notch and were really in line with the REH universe. However, since you could just roll around doing stuff solo all the way up to max level, it was almost impossible to find people to do the group content. Some player literally never grouped until they did their first end game dungeon.

Also agree that while a good story is great, at the end of the day, gameplay and in-game relationships are what keep an MMO strong. Fancy cut scenes are nice, but should be secondary to developing quality game play.

I'd rather have the option to solo than not have it at all. Sure there will be times that I'll be grouping with my buddies (probably most of the time) but god knows I'll fall behind in character progression in some way or another, and that's when I'll choose to solo, to catch up when they're not on. Although I'd have the option to still "group" I'd really not chance it with the modern MMO player base being a bunch of fucking retarded trolls who suck dicks for a living. So it's not all bad having the option available, just my opinion.
