this comes out officially tomorrow. Anybody seen an early rom show up?
Also, anybody know how the downloadable quests work?
Thanks
don't suppose there's a working DS emulator?
completely forgot this was coming out when i decided to sell my DS a few months ago, goddamnit D:
ah sweet, thanks! doesn't seem to handle this game very well though, or i'm doing something wrong. game loads up an error screen, says something about being unable to read data and to reinsert the DS card or something.
i did get it off the official site though, i'll try torrenting and see if i can get my hands on the latest version.
edit- yep, latest version did the trick! works just fine now.
Got it today at Toys R Us, even came with a $15 gift card!
This is my first Dragon Quest game, job/class system seems pretty awesome.
Been playing it, even talked the wife into getting a copy for multiplayer, much love for this DQ game.
What is everyone doing for their main party?
I am going a boring route I guess. Main is Swordy, then I have Priest, Mage, Thief. Working well so far, but only a little ways in.
yall should look into Dragon Warrior 7 if you want to play a DQ game with jobs, that shit was win.
I'll wait for a ROM of this to come out.
VII is fantastic. definitely made of win. and it's looooong too - it's fairly easy to hit 100 hours without even trying.
I'm thinking main character as Sword user, going into Paladin for tankishness, and then either maining it or switching back to Minstrel for a more traditional "DQ Hero" character. Then Martial Artist who dips into Thief for Steal, and then maybe Gladiator to jack damage up. And a Cleric who goes to Sage and a Mage who I have no idea what to do with advanced class-wise.
Here's a pic of the full world map with all the gather spots for anyone who might want to use it:

Made it to Lleviathan and started to lose interest. Not a bad game by any means but... I dunno, it's a little bland.
Oh well, at least the boss battles in here so far had been far more interesting than the first few bosses in any other turn-based game I've played in quite some time!
The rom came out a few days before the retail version did, its got AP on it, but there was a cracked version of it release same day I think.
As for my team, not sure what i'm gonna do after being able to change classes, but so now I got my main using a Fan, a MA with claws(awesome power on these things), a priest with a spear(after getting a decent one and upping her skill she does pretty decent damage) and mage with staff.
Sucks, got the cracked version of the ROM and it still black screens on me after

Least I hope I didn't fuck something up story wise. Lol
The things that pissed me off about the game were
1) The first disc was so fucking long it was ridiculous. So when I finally got to the second disc I was like sweet, what now? And I beat it within a few hours. -.-
2) The amount of grinding you have to do to level up jobs is ridiculous. Especially when you fight God; I found it mandatory to have 3 God-Hands and 1 Summoner, and even with that setup you can still get fucked over in one turn(ie wave of ice, back to back Lightning from the Netherworld = good game).
3) Mt. Zion mobs can eat a dick.
edit: ffffffffffffffffff

yeah the grinding for jobs was ridiculous. you basically had to know exactly what you were going to do as far as jobs went right from the first job you got, and even then there was still a lot of grinding to get all the abilities you wanted. if you started out just trying out different jobs and not planning out a route to your ultimate jobs, good f-ing luck.
