    NIN/DRK for a noob

My Nyzul static is going to hit 60+ this Friday, and I'm going to start going as NIN/DRK for boss floors. Curious what the normal routine is for a NIN/DRK tanking. Thanks.

I know you asked about NIN/DRK info and got that link, but I must say in Nyzul Isle there's no need ever to not sub /WAR as a Ninja.

My group has been doing 4 runs a week since the beginning of the year and I've been NIN/WAR for 90% of those runs and never thought to myself, "oh shit, I really need to cast Stun!". Maybe, maybe, maaaaybe if a Flan or Flayer is casting -aga III, but that's no reason to pass up Provoke, Berserk, etc. for the other 99% of the time.

Grab yourself a couple of these and /WAR it: Mamushito +1... you'll be just fine. :D

That NIN guide is excellent - never seen it before and it's very detailed. Thanks for the link.

We've started going tankless to Nyzul - the guy who normally goes NIN has started going MNK/NIN, WAR/NIN or PLD/NIN and he cotanks with our other MNK/NIN. Backline is RDM+BRD and the other party members are a TH4 THF and a BLU/NIN. With fanatic's drink and body boost it's really been fine, although we've been doing Nyzul a long time and kind of know what to expect so ymmv.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Just NIN/WAR with DD gear, I can tank all Boss floors on WAR so you should be able to on NIN.

I used to do the NIN/DRK thing for 80 and 100 floors just for a little added safety since we had no stuns. Just use your DD gear if you are going to sub DRK for bosses.

No need to. Get items from the box at the beginning, and kill the mobs dead. Seriously, barring SS/Physical Immunity, they tend to die in a couple minutes or less. Fanatics and Body Boost at least, if not some DD stuff as well.

NIN is actually a good job for Nyzul outside of the boss floors (They are very good DDs still vs. the DC/EM mobs and are a versatile tank for the harder Enemy Leader floors), but NIN/WAR is definitely better than NIN/DRK for the bosses. I tried it many times, and there is simply no difference in how well you hold hate between NIN/WAR and NIN/DRK, so go with the subjob that gives you better offensive and defensive capabilities, which is WAR.

And yeah, if every melee brings a Fanatic's Drink the bosses are all pushovers with any 4 melee setup.

My Group was Floor 1->100 Tankless as well

    For non-boss floors

    2 war/sam, 1 rdm, 1 whm, 1 brd, 1 w/e is available (typically either a Sam another War/Sam or a BLM)

    For Boss Floors we went 1 War/Sam, 1 Drk/sam, 1 rdm, 1whm, 1brd and then same floater.

After we cleared 1-100 we now swap a thf in somewhere for TH.

There's really no need at all for a traditional tank of any kind.

Any job with a Fanatic's and balls can tank the bosses.

Then you don't need the Fanatic's.
