Thread: Vrtra back to normal?     submit to reddit submit to twitter

    Vrtra back to normal?

    I know a while back people had issues where Vrtra was ninja updated. Where Kiting near the outside caused draw in issues. And Stright tanking she would draw in those tanks on her feet also causing a mess.

    Has anyone done Vrtra recently and is she back to normal, or still in this new crappy mode?

    My linkshell chose to fight Vrtra as our scheduled event this past Saturday. It ended... poorly, whereas we have been successful in the past. So I'd be inclined to say, as of Saturday, Vrtra was still having draw-in issues.

    (Our kiters complained of more-frequent-than-before draw-ins, as well as more issues when kiting Vrtra near the door of the room.)

    2nd the galka. I would like another chance to kill this beast. I am sure it could still be done however our strat has been to straight tank it while its smashed sideways up against a wall. Correct me if I am wrong, but Vrtra can't be pulled against any of the walls in his room, or is it just the doors hes afraid of?

    He pulls in soon as main target is out of melee range now. That really screws things up because you have to clear more mobs around him, and he even got screwy pulling in drks while zerging, causing the whole "can't see target" deal.

    looking for a challenge for the LS tonight. We used to kill vrtra weekly but havent done so in maybe a year. I know all the bs about vrtra, but:

    Has he been killed on any server yet with any strategy since the ninja edit?

    Yes. He dies in about 30-60 seconds.

    zerg yay... Not really the challenge I was looking for but I guess it's nice to know he is still killable that way.

    My guess is that you need to get a little lucky that spike flail is stunned during the zerg because it sounds like it will draw in the drks and wars still.

    Even before he drew in like crazy, when straight tanking he will spike flail.

    When he summons a mob, he will step aside to get out of the way from it which will trigger a flail eventually. The first JP shell that killed him did it with a straight tank setup and had a rdm stun bot that stopped every single spike flail.

    killled him like 2-3 weeks ago, we were gunna do our normal kite>bps>etc.. and the draw ins happened, so we just kinda said F it, and straight tanked it, it was definitely annoying getting slept alot, and i thought it woulda failed for sure a few times from pops, but we won without much trouble, just very annoying fight

    You used to be able to pin him up against a wall to prevent him from spinning when he summoned, the summon would be forced to the side and vrtra would stay put. Unsure if you can still plant him against a wall anymore with the new draw in radius.

    ChocoboGordo on Ragnarok did it a few weeks ago. They had a mnk burn pt on normal mobs in the room, a blm pt on Vrtra summons and summoners on Vrta. I know it worked, and I know they did it, not sure on any other details though. GL!

    You can throw a bunch of drks on it and it'll die eventually.

    By the looks of the screenshot you tanked him out in the middle of the room, or, not against a wall. How did you compensate for the summons causing vrtra to move? Or is there some nice terrain glitch in there that i havent found yet?
