MVP: Even though Manning or Brady will probably win in my opinion, picking them is not exciting. How about some Ben Roethlesberger (sp) action? I would pick LT (not really a shocking candidate either) but havent heard much about him since the injury. WRONG

Super Bowl: Not picking, but...

Superbowl Champ: Philadelphia, because I am a sucker for punishment, and will probably start drinking heavily by week 9. DOUBTFUL


Edit: Adding 2 new categories since it happens every year:

Team that fails to live up to last year: NY Giants. Post-Super Bowl woes, every team will be gunning for them etc. HOLY SHIT WRONG

Team that comes out of nowhere: St. Louis. Weak division, if they stay injury free they can compete with the Seahawks. HOLY SHIT WRONG

Edit2: That NFL "migration" commercial just came on. Easily one of the best football commercials. Gets me so damned pumped for football season.

Philadelphia is absolutely making the playoffs this year. They should have made it last year. If they bring a punt returner to Green Bay, they beat the Packers week 1. If they stop that last pass in Philadelphia, they beat Chicago. At 10-6 they make the playoffs. Instead they came in last in their division and were better than their 8-8 record would suggest. They go into this season with McNabb focusing on playing rather than rehab, a stronger offense, a stronger defense.

Cleveland is also going to end their playoff drought behind a sickening offense (as long as they don't do anything stupid like bench Derek Anderson for Brady Quinn). Jurevicious, Edwards, Stallworth, Josh Cribbs, Kellen Winslow. Shit, if my Eagles had half as much talent we'd be a dynasty.

Last year when I started working at NFL Films they made me pick who would win the super bowl. I came close picking the Patriots.

First of all, I'm really having a hard time stomaching all this Dallas love. They're the NFL's version of the Yankees. Only you can't buy championships if your team isn't anchored by good role players and a star who isn't a choke artist. LOOKING AT YOU TONY HOMO.

That said, they're still winning the NFC East cause they matchup well against the Giants and they'll probably end up with the tie breaker.

THEN drafted the most overrated player in the 1st round. Gholston's an impending bust. They'll HAVE to trade for Brett if they intend on doing anything this season. They spent a lot of money on the O-Line, what good is it if Chad Pennington rarely throws downfield? CORRECT

Biggest Bust: Hard to call because we don't know who'll get injured. If I had to pick now? McNabb ;;, he's already dinged up. WRONG

Rookie of the year: Oh god Tyche gtfo with that Gholston crap. DE's rarely win RoY. If I had to put my money on anybody it'd be Kevin Smith from UCF. HALF CORRECT

Chicago @ St. Louis - Chicago will bounce back from a disappointing loss

New England @ Miami - Miami needs this for the playoffs, I am practically wishing them through this game

Minnesota @ Jacksonville - Great game, Jags win late

Philadelphia @ Baltimore - Baltimore's start to a very brutal schedule. Phili will start them out with a big ass L

Houston @ Cleveland - Who cares...

San Francisco @ Dallas - Looking for Dallas to stay in the hunt

Oakland @ Denver - Denver will continue to bury the San Diego dream.

Washington @ Seattle - Washington will stay in the hunt.

New York Giants @ Arizona - Tough pick. I want to say Arizona since they play well at home, but they laid an egg against San Fran. I'll call the G-men.

Carolina @ Atlanta - Looking for Delhomme to have a decent game in a losing effort.

Indianapolis @ San Diego - Indi is starting to fire off and they'll drive the final stake in the heart of the Chargers.

Green Bay @ New Orleans - A pretty good shootout. Green Bay may slow up Brees and hold him to 350 yards (lol). Green Bay wins.

I was way off. It's been a crazy season, but meh. As I was watching my beloved Philadelphia Eagles fucking tie the 1-8 Bengals this Sunday I realized how over football I am this season. Between losing my job at NFL Films at the end of last season, the Eagles being managed about as well as my local chapter of Friendly's, and the Phillies winning the World Series, football just hasn't been this same this season.

I really thought the Eagles would be better this season but it's clear that Andy Reid has lost his touch. He's become a jack of all trades in the company and all of his senses seem dull.
