"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world."

James T. Kirk: Khan. Khan, you've got Genesis. But you don't have me! You're going to kill me, Khan, you're going to have to come down here. You're going to have to come down here.
Khan Noonien Singh: I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on... hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her. Marooned for all eternity, in the center of a dead planet. Buried alive... buried alive.

While I enjoyed Fight Club it's pretty asinine to think of Tyler Durden as number 1. Look at the other characters he beat out in the end. Tyler Durden is not a more captivating character than John Rambo or Indiana Jones or Clubber Lang. Poor choice. Very poor choice. He belongs in the top 25, not number 1.
Proof of this.
Spoiler: show
Another favorite of mine, Kakihara from Ichi the Killer.
Ace Ventura so shoulda been higher up on the list, my favorite two movies of Jim Carry's.
I don't see Verbal Kint on either of those lists.
though john mcclane made the list, i find it retarded he's not top 5.
Premiere actually did a list like this and John McClane barely even made the top 50
Premiere - The 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time
The top 10:
1. Vito Corleone of The Godfather
2. Fred C. Dobbs of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
3. Scarlett O'Hara of Gone With the Wind
4. Norman Bates of Psycho
5. James Bond of Dr. No
6. Annie Hall of Annie Hall
7. Indiana Jones of Raiders of the Lost Ark
8. Ellen Ripley of Alien
9. Jeff Spicoli of Fast Times at Ridgemont High
10. Gollum of Lord of the Rings
Batman and Superman not on the top 25 is just dumb. But the Joker is.
LOL holy crap. I literally came into this thread specifically to look for Tyler Durden to see if he even made the list and he ended up as #1.
Neither Durden nor Bateman are on the Premiere list.
This was in April of '04 so it was late enough for both of them.
I'm a bit disappointed that they left Inigo Montoya out as well.
Spacey is just the man. Period.
Howard the Duck should be number 1!
/runs
He's #40
He is listed at #69 as Keyser Soze. Fucking White Goodman from Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story finished ahead of him.
In fact there are a lot of garbage picks on the list. When I read the topic, I thought of two characters which I thought were definitely going to be on the list. Much to my surprise, they were not.
How could you not put Blake or Gunnery Sergeant Hartman on the list?
