Shoulda coulda woulda. Always gonna be someone pissing and moaning about how it should have been done in the first place. If SE gives it to us all at once, we'd be done with it by now and playing something else. They like our money, so they put out in small doses.
There is one thing that SE gives to us all at once, but that doesn't pertain to updates.
P E R T A I N S T O A S S R A P E
I'm hoping for the Bacon Log this year.
Spoiler: show
This is the turning point of the thread... Discussion of the update is now over, begun, the discussion of bacon logs has.
Sigh, I just capped off WHM AF2 and was glad to be done with Dynamis, now back into the fray. Wonder what the competition is going to be like?
Also- wonder if this brings AF1+1?
I see your "bah, this interrupts my playtime" and counter with a
"The update takes place on the day I have my last exam for the semester and will finish a few hours after I get home, leaving me just enough time for a short nap, and then, in the unlikely event that it is good, playing for days straight."
Yay :D
Wafik, I have never in my life complained about a version update, ever. I have watched others do it and sigh over 99% of the comment, but this update is just too much to not comment. I mean seriously, group 2 merit for DNC and SCH aside, this is really something that should have been packed with the game. A such small update right after fanfest, that's just not right. If they haven't announced everything yet, I might take that comment back, depending on what the news is. Fuck, give me Beaucedine or Xarcabard [S] and i'll be happy.
They obviously haven't announced everything. There have been many previous instances where they have pulled out huge surprises on the day of the patch. I doubt they'll even reveal everything at this weekend's FanFest.
Plus all the subsequent update notes thus far have dealt with what was revealed at the Japan Vanafest. There's going to be more revealed tomorrow, I'm sure of it.
Besides, how could anyone not be excited about the potential of the Mazes and FoV?
It should bring AF1+1; they were quick to include it with ToAU jobs so they could stay in step with the others with their Relic update. And the competition should be easy on a whole for DNC and SCH (unless your LS is mage heavy and you're a SCH). At least I know it will be for my LS. >.>
All they need to announce this weekend is Iron Ram Hauberks and I'll be happy. >.> <.<
EDIT: Whoops, misread. My apologies.
There's one thing I don't understand about the whole "This should have been in at release!" argument. FFXI launched in 2002. The current MMO ideal was released two years later. In that time frame, the only major MMO FFXI had to compete with (and develop ideas off of) was EverQuest. Conceptually, FFXI felt more similar to EQ than it ever will to WoW. So when stuff like Level Sync, Moogles in certain places (ie Selbina), etc come up, why do people always have to say "This should have been in at release!" when going up against the time frame in which FFXI was developed, in which none of this would have been seen at all?
2nd EDIT: Also, this just in: FFXI battle development team stuck in 2002.
Kendai: We still have a number of things to announce over in America in two weeks. Look forward to a follow-up report.
Also:
There were many more questions about things like Salvage and Jobs, but you can look forward to hearing all about those at Fan Fest in America!
