What dope would pick up a random mountain lion cub? I was riding my mountain bike in the foothills by my old house when I was in high school and a tiny little adorable mountain lion kitten came wandering/meowing out onto the trail in front of me. I stopped, turned my bike around and peddled my ass the fuck out of there.

we've been in touch w/ the wildlife rehabbers here, looking for a foster home for it. our vet raised 5 of them right before she went into veterinarian school, and says we're doing it right so far.

Arya's adjusting pretty well. She can tolerate new people holding her and playing with her, and she doesn't hide when people are over which is what I'm used to seeing cats do. (My grandma always just picked up ferals she found that needed homes, so they were always skiddish around people.)

Feel this might be the right thread to ask questions about pets.

So I have come into a 14 year old Cockatiel. (I will post pics of him later) He seems to be a fun bird but there are a few things I need to ask. Hes loves when you sing to him, he loves to sing back(seems Beethoven's 5th is his favorite song) . However Hes in about a 28~30 in cage(top to bottom) is this to small? If so what size should I aim for.

Next he is not very friendly when it comes to being let out or touched, Wings not clipped and what not.

A)Is there a way to get him to be nicer at this age?
B)Should I get his wings clipped?
C)Best Size cage?

A) I haven't had much luck with this with any pet bird, it takes a long time (i've had 3-4 Cockatiels I raised from eggs and a Yellow Amazon my mom raised from a baby). The Amazon wouldn't let anyone near her except my mom, who hand fed her as a baby. She had it before I was born, and it wasn't until I was in my late teens that I was actually able to feed it without getting snapped at. Same deal with the cockatiels. Most birds seem to attach to people for life. Hand feeding helps, but not by sticking your hand inside the cage when they're cornered. Let them outside the cage and let them come to you.

B) If you ever let him outside of his cage, then yeah. They can hurt themselves really bad just flying into shit around the house. This would probably help with point 'A'. You can leave their cage open and let them roam freely a bit. Helps them get used to being around people.

C) I've always had my pets in bigger cages. The one you have sounds fine for a cockatiel, but there's nothing wrong with a bigger one.

Sounds good,im take him to the pet store to get his wings clipped. Take it from there, He is 14 years old I been told he could be nearing he end of his life 15~25 years. Dont want to dive him crazy in his old age if that is true.

He still is great to have around(little bit of a mess but what bird is not) He fills the house with music in the morning and night. I will try and work with him
