It's official, BG's boards have ruined me for any other boards. I was just checking out the ffxiclopedia boards, and there were several posts that made me want to rip my hair out, including one where a Blue Mage was talking about main handing an Ifrit's Blade and offhanding a Dissector, and another where a player said that Haubergeon was better than Osode for Gekko before you have sea gorgets because your attack is too small without the gorget.

i'm 72 now and i have Ifrit's blade, Martial Anelace and Dissector. what would be my best main/off hand set-up? i was thinking ifrit/dissector but i'm not so sure....<help me out!>

Not only is this exaggerated but have you noticed some of the dumb ass questions that have been asked on BG?

I prefer BG because you are more likely to get a good answer for questions than in other places. But the number of bad questions is about the same.

The SAM one is correct. Personally, I'm not knocking the purpose of the thread, but what was ridiculous was him saying that without a sea gorget, you need the haubergeon over an osode for YGK because your attack will be too "diminutive" as he puts it. We're talking about a WS that has a massive (45%+) pDIF bonus. On top of that, how would having a sea gorget suddenly make you no longer need that extra attack that he said you needed before? It gives you an fTP bonus, not pDIF.

The BLU thread you think I got that from wasn't the right one, I would never bash someone who was simply asking for advice. This is what the guy said that I was referring to:

First of all, why would anyone off-hand a dissector if your other sword is an ifrit's blade? They have the same base damage, and the stats for ifrit's blade will carry over into your vorpal blades, while the dissector's +6% crit will only apply on one hit of vorpal if you put it in your off hand.

Secondly, he's asserting that his ifrit's blade crits more than the dissector, which I don't think I even need to say anything for people to realize how ridiculous that is. It's an obvious case of eye-balling something and thinking you're seeing something that's not really happening.
