Maybe if we stay logged in we can stay online? Otherwise it almost seems like they declare it down because if POL is down FFXI is down (if you were not connected at all initially).

That's never been the case before. If XBL goes down, 360 players are still connected to POL/XI. But if POL goes down, everyone is SOL, even if it has nothing to do with XI.

What this means is that timers won't reset because they're not (or so they say) shutting down XI, they're just shutting down POL. Now...if they're taking down POL for maintenance, they'd be stupid not to do the same thing to XI. But then hey - nobody ever gave Square any awards for technical aptitude.

I can confirm what he said is true. Been many times were I've gotten kicked off live, but ffxi kept working fine. Also was able to keep playing ffxi through xbox live maintenances by being on the game before it started. If you manually sign-out of live it will kick you off the game, maybe you signed out on accident? idk

It's weird but if you d/c from Xbox live while playing FFXI or xbox live goes down for maintenance you can still play FFXI if you log on before it starts, but if you sign in while playing it kicks you off FFXI all the way to the log on screen lol

Actually, no, the last such occurrence has been more than one or two years ago, but they can take POL down without FFXI being affected. They'd even do a maintenance on POL while FFXI was business at usual.

Seems they did mess with FFXI. Not surprising, I know.

Since the servers were down anyway, why not make any little fixes that need doing? Saves us a two hour downtime sometime later.

Yea, I agree. But it seems according to MMM forum, this change did nothing atleast positive to the drop rates.

Ah, that's too bad. One day I'll have time to explore MMM. I'd really like to do it (I did do it once), I just have too many events on my plate right now (plus working on a new job to 75).

Nothing significant anyway. For all we know, it could be one particular combination that should allow a drop that they found out didn't.

I could be that Might+Supreme Might were both required before but aren't now. I don't recall if any drops were reported before without both. I know there have been a few since though.
