Dont fuck with the Bakula
Dont fuck with the Bakula
Nope. Elaborate pleaseoops, messed up on quoting and double post, sorry, but you get the idea..lol
I dont know shit about star trek aside from the new movie, but i do know that Scott Bakula was in one star trek series, and my friends would always say "dont fuck with the Bakula" XD
Open beta key.. fuck.. there goes my "good start of new semester..."
MMORPGs, the final frontier
These are the areas of proctastination for students
To boldly go where so many geeks have blown their exams before
To explore strange, fucked up programming bugs-- ah fuck, off I go
I want to hear what ppl think of it, sounds like EVE w/ the Star Trek logo from the nothing I've heard about it
In the mass scheme that EVE pitches to, STO is nothing like EVE. All PVP is pretty much instanced in capped fights. From what I've heard, the game is being rushed by the financial backing, and the developer claims "they'll fix stuff later". Sounds like another setup for a terrible MMO.
Not sure if I want, this will kill my semester but the idea of massive space endgame fights against Borg seems fun.
Damn, massively is out of keys, and I didn't get one from the official site yet either. Do companies typically keep some keys for later, or is the first batch pretty much it?
Think it still needs some work.
Big screens:
Spoiler: show
They are already shutting down server for an hour for a patch. Probably for the first ground mission. People were complaining about being instanced outside of the area that is allowed in the training thing.
it that bad?
Is there a torrent for this? Fileplanet download is going to take for-fucking-ever to download.
it's linked somewhere on the cryptic pages
( http://installers.crypticstudios.com...108a.0.torrent )
It's not horribly uninteresting, but wether the interface is bad, or just takes getting used to, remains to be seen. ship controlling during the first training mission was painful, but it might have been realistic, I just don't know.
(weapons seem to fire a little when they feel like it in space, and I'm not entirely certain speed works as it should, but it's a tad hard to tell due to lack of any indicators of speed besides the graphical % bar)
Maybe this is something to do with the clock bug the boards have, I don't know, but why was my spoiler screenshot posted moved behind Guyver's post? It's not a huge deal by any means whatsoever, but last night when I went to bed my post was after his and now it's the last post of page 1.
You can go impulse then full impulse as well . Once your nav. bar is at 100% with impulse, press the "+" button above it, that will make you go full impulse, much faster
Needs more key giveaways.
edit: found this, dunno if it is still active

pfft, download this last night only to wake up today and find there was some sort of corruption in the zip file /sigh. Starting over again from a different download source.
Ok so I downloaded the open beta last night because I snagged a key off of Massively, and I went to the Cryptic site and the download took 9 HOURS. After that I finally got to play a bit. The character creation is very deep with almost limitless possibilities. The on foot missions felt odd but controlled pretty well for the most part. The issue I had was with the flying. I dont know if it is just me because I have never played EVE, but controlling the ship and attacking felt very awkward and even though the first few flight missions I beat easily, I got owned by probes that surrounded me and I couldnt get away. I kept trying to get away but i was pitching the camera all over and I basically just spun my ship around till i got blown up, lol. Im going to try a little bit more when I get home. Oh btw, the graphics in space are AMAZING, but the on foot missions not so much......
Looks like poop, skip to middle for fighting.
